I'm not anti or pro any side in this conflict. But business wise, it was during the last 'coup years' that business was having one of it's better times.

As an Update: All coalition partners have agreed to the road map. Some reports say the Red Shirt group will reply this afternoon, some say this evening, and some say tomorrow.

The only Red Shirt group to make a full statement is from Kalasin. They agree with the plan, but still want house dissolution in 90 days, not November. Pete

i would agree with all you put in red if it was not the mans argument that he never got a fair trial
so lets get the history straight first
First came the coup
then the Democrat party appointed ministers sacked judges and replaced them

THEN Mr T stood trial not before

Did he get a fair trial I DO NOT KNOW and neither do you and wishfull thinking either way is a futile exercise as for the bribe in my thinking it would have been just as heinous if the judge had accepted and found him not guilty

The problem is It is a powerful belief amongst his followers that he DID NOT get a fair trial and they did not get that propaganda from the media

i proposed this purely as a way of removing that argument once and for all and expect the results of these televised trials would leave him isolated if you are correct

Breaking news is that the Red Shirt leadership as accepted unanimously"...a reconciliation program...", but no specific mention of the full "road map" plan as being agreed to. In addition, they want the Election Commission to set the election date, not the current government.

I think they're playing games with semantics and doing a bit of face saving. They know the election commission will set whatever date Abahasit wants. I think it's a done deal. Pete

Mr Veera affirmed that the UDD leaders would not seek amnesty from being charged with terrorism and lese majeste and would be ready to fight the charges.

Not much news this morning being a holiday. However, what there is shows that things are not over. A whole bunch of "if's and buts" are now being thrown about by the Red Shirts and they have refused, for now, to end their rally until more of their conditions are met. Pete

pete as i understand it Only the electoral commission can put a date on the election Abhisit can only dissolve the parliament

from the day Abhisit dissolves the house the election commission must anounce the election date between 45 and 60 days after the date of dissolution

if mr a does not dissolve the house the parliament must by law go full term ie end of next year

i will give mr A the benefit of the doubt and say election 14 november
so the house must be dissolved before 1st oct to give 45 days or at the earliest 16th sept to give 60 days

i think the red shirts want a firm date of dissolution and probably the 16th sept because if the house is dissolved on the 1st oct theoreticaly the election commission could give 60 days which goes up to 29/30 nov

it may well all be semantics but at least we are a lot further back from armagedon
