I don't know what the complainers were eating, but I've been to Coco 51 twice now (last week and about 2 months ago) and had good meals both Thai and western at reasonable prices. Normally, a street stall or inexpensive Thai restaurant is good enough for me , but sometimes guests may enjoy a little ...

I went to a Thai restaurant in Los Angeles (recommended by an officer at the Thai consulate). While the food was decent, it was short of the mark set in Thailand and was about 20X the cost. Example: som tum, sticky rice, and moo yang with an ice coffee was 28 USD. Out here it's about 60 baht or $1.5...

If you still need additional crew, I'd like to join. I once held the bench press record at the University of California Los Angeles, so maybe I could sit opposite the powerful guy and help keep the boat from going in circles.

Having read the posts on this thread I have to say a lot of it in my opinion is hearsay, rumour and prejudice. There is no "Hidden Mafia" in Hua Hin. If there was I am sure they would be turning their attention to more sinister activities than flower selling! Noone knows whether the "...

Sang Thai (across the road from Buffalo Bills) is good as well, and seems to be a bit less pricey than Chowlay.

Getting things done out here is not always determined by your country of origin, it's more a matter of who you know. There was a drainage leak on my soi from a nearby property that resulted in a large pool of green mosquito infested water. After a few visits by my (Thai) wife to the municipality, no...

I will attempt to ignore Pete B's comments for now, while concentrating on the excellent constructive criticism offered by Norseman and Guess. Yes some good tequila, rather than that crap with the Sombrero on top, would be nice. In fact, I'll make sure to bring some back, having just indulged in som...

Point well taken. To anyone offended, I offer my apologies. All that was meant by the comment was that perhaps these dogs choose to be kind to all sentient beings, not kill, etc. I would be the last to attempt to ridicule Thai people, buddhists, or anyone else for that matter.

Cats seem to be becoming a problem as well. If I am not mistaken, the same cat had two different litters near my home within six months. The weird thing is that the cats seem to peacefully coexist with the dogs, who would surely have them for dinner in the west. Either all the scraps of Thai food ma...
