Re: Football World Cup 2010

On a lighter note: http://www.elmundo.es/mundial/2010/html/audios/gol_final.html Hit the play button to listen to each of the Spanish radio commentaries of Iniesta's goal - crazy! I especially like the Cadena Cope one where half way through some of the commentary team are in doubt as to whether the...

Re: Football World Cup 2010

there were though plenty of times when the reaction to fouls were over dramatised :| yes it hurts, but not to the extent that you have to roll around on the floor for a minute screaming  . . . . .then get up 2 mins later totally refreshed :D the only incident that warranted that reaction wou...

Re: Football World Cup 2010

And the foul on Robben was outside the area - that's why he didn't go down. He's not normally shy at falling over.

Re: Football World Cup 2010

- By giving the second yellow card for Heitinga. - Not giving a clear corner to the Dutch team. - Approving a clear off-side goal. - Not giving a penalty for Robben. A lot has been said on this forum about the quality of the referees, so this was another cry for video assistance. Congratulations to...

Re: Football World Cup 2010

Yes, my street is orange coloured. Dutch flags everywhere and orange bunting a-plenty. There was a few fireworks going off after the match but it's quietened down now - keeping the major celebrations for Sunday obviously. I want Spain to win tomorrow as my dad is from Spain, and a Netherlands -Spain...

Re: Football World Cup 2010

After watching Brazil last night, I think they're going to take some stopping. They might not have the "samba flair" of yesteryear, but they are very difficult to score against. A very powerful unit.

Re: Football World Cup 2010

Just be glad that you do not live in Wales! My local Post Office staff, plus 75% of Welsh people, were so against the "English"" winning! It is disgusting! I am Welsh, but ashamed to say I am sometimes. The majority of people here will support anyone...just as long as they are not En...

8th in the fifa world standings would suggest so :|
I don't take much notice of them, prior to this tournament Spain had won 45 of their last 47 matches and were not ranked number 1! :?

Re: Football World Cup 2010

as a prominent team in a major tournament, you have to believe you can win it, no point turning up otherwise :? Absolutely agree, but as I alluded to in an earlier post, are they a prominent team? Historically of course, as the country that gave football to the world, but in the results driven worl...

Re: Football World Cup 2010

but in my opinion the English simply put too much pressure on themselves. They go into every tournament expecting to win it. where do you get that from :? From my time living and working in England. That is the impression the pundits and all of my work mates give off. Clive Tyldesley commen...

Re: Football World Cup 2010

with regards to the goal line technology argument, the same thing happened to Romania against Bulgaria in Euro 96. Losing 1-0, they scored a "goal" just like Lampard which wasn't given - they were knocked out. Nothing has happened in the 14 years since, however, this time it has affected o...

Re: WINTER Rugby Tours - Prediction League

Didn't turn out too bad in the end. Listened to the game on the internet via NZ sport radio, and the boys played the full 80 at last. And we scored our 1st try against the ABs in 5 years, and the NZ commentator called Jamie Roberts the best inside centre in the world! He must have played well to get...

Re: WINTER Rugby Tours - Prediction League

Just turned on the radio and listened to the last 15 minutes of the 1st half. 13-3 to the ABs at half time, but how annoying that another moment of ill discipline gets us a yellow card seconds before the whistle. When will these players learn? :banghead: Fearing the worst for the 2nd half!

Re: tennis endurance test!!!

Hats off to the 2 of them, it finally ended after 11 hours of play, with the American guy winning the final set 70-68. He'll probably go out in the next round in 3 straight sets due to being absolutely knackered!

Re: WINTER Rugby Tours - Prediction League

Disappointingly I read today AWJ saying that being able to match the ABs intensity "wouldn't happen overnight". That's true I know, but the game has been professional for 15 years and we're still a full 40 minutes away from matching them. What are they doing that we're unable to cotton ont...
