This seems somewhat like the Pasta Factory thread. Ya love it or hate it.
I had two experiences at San Paulo. First one concerned a piece of stick I stepped on that jamed a piece of wood about 1/2 into my foot just behind right ankle bone. I dug out what I could but next day foot was beginning to swell. Just a tourist then I went San Paulo. Got a nurse in emergency room to sit down and dig around for a half hour with tweezers, etc, pulling out splinters of wood. Bandaged it up and said I was to come back every morning the next 5 days. 350 baht for the initial treatment.
Excuse me, but in the land of the dollar fat, that would a cost in the hundreds of smackers maybe even 5. I kinda dreaded the daily treatment-Remove bandage, pick out the puss with tweezers, ouch!!, antiseptic, rebandage, another 1/2 hour in the emergency room. GadZoks, a stunning 50 baht! I made every appointment. Good value
Two weeks ago I had some kinda back spasm/pinched nerve. Subsequently having heard all the bad words on San Paulo and thinking myself lucky on first go, I went to Hua Hin PolyClinic of the much lauded Petcharat Hospital. There I spent 2 -TWO- hours IN THE WAITING AREA writhing in pain trying my best to get attention and moved to the head of the line or into emergency room. Finally was seen by the female DR and told me the emergency room was occupied and I would have to go else where. I sure felt telling her where to go!
Grabbed a taxi to San Paulo. In Tthe emergency room in two minutes and on the bed. The famed Dr Boripan attended to me. Got a shot of pain killer, xrays, examination, a second shot of stronger stuff as the pain was now excruciating. Told "nothing wrong" no stone--were they thinking possibly kidney?
I never had "nothing wrong" hurt so bad. But I guess it was a twisted or pinched nerve that didnt show up on xray. I was under observation for 3 hous. I was prescribed a weeks worth of 3 types of medication for pain and muscle relaxer. Cost me 3400Baht. 100$US. maybe expensive in contrast to HHPolyClinic for same treatment IF I could have been seen. But again in comparison to USA, almost free. AND I WALKED OUT ALIVE!!

In contrast I walked out of the Pasta Factory disappointed while others rave.

I do have to say I have my monthly INR done at HH Polyclinic 300 b vs. 900 at San Paulo as their lab services are quite expensives .
