I saw a 30 minute show about them on Auto Mundial the other day. Up to that point I didn't even know they existed. Quite a car in my opinion, the quintessential roadster/sports car. If I lived back in the West, and had the money of course, one would be in my garage. I can't remember when it was love at first sight concerning a car for me, but it happened with these. What a car to cruise the country roads in on a crisp day....heaven!!!! Pete

Yes, they're still coachbuilt on an ash frame, the same as they were in the 1930's. This one has to be surely the fastest car around still with wood in it:
How does an ash frame stand up to termites? and....what do you think the normal life is before some kind of rot sets in, same time frame as steel?
I can see why the US has a restriction unless there are crash tests available showing the frame can withstand the same or greater stresses than steel or aluminum, and fire risk may be a hang up for the insurance companies. Pete
