transparency

As you have been asking me for advice and quite vocal on here, I think it's only fair I can ask about things I've heard and read.
Seeing as you have been very critical of the property industry here, and there is plenty of criticism warranted, I think you should have let us know you were previously working in that industry too. Transparency and all that, but your choice.
What is also good for transparency is that yourself and others that have had issues be allowed to participate in the forming of the association and not kept quiet.

Cheers,

SJ
Not kept quiet. Yes indeedy, that is good for transparency. I didn't realize my 3 months in a developers office was so critical to understanding my objection to paying for something I didn't get. Was I clear enough in my coming "straight."

I encourage other consumers with issues to come to the next meeting so we can get the benefit of their issues covered in the guidelines being developed.

In the interests of total transparency, I am a retired Gemologist,GG, Gemological Institute of America (inspector, detector, acceptor, or rejecter of gemstones :D ), and have been an English language (American emphasis) professor at Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas, Lithuania and English teacher at various schools and institutes in Espana.

Yourself??
Me ? my background here is similar to yours Simon, involved in the property industry on the developer side of things and a consumer.
I am still actively involved in the industry though and overall a happy consumer. Did have some small issues but got them sorted out as I know a builder who's quite good.

And I would encourage all other consumers who are happy with their property purchase, to come to the next meeting so we can benefit from how they (positively) dealt with any issues they had. :thumb:

Guys,

I know that my geographical location prevents me from participating, but I thought (at least the first meeting) attendance was by invitation only. If this still the case for the next meeting, you need to give details about how to get an invite.

Very good point JD and I second that. Will be very interesting to hear the happy stories of those who never had a problem and WHY THAT WAS. Did they get the water system they contracted for, the pest control system they contracted for, the underground sprinkler system they contracted for, the motion detectors and lights on the perimeter walls they contracted for, and the drainage system detailed in the plans approved by the tessaban? And if not, how did they persuade their builder/developer to comply. That would be very useful minformation indeed.

so we can benefit from how they (positively) dealt with any issues they had. :thumb:

Some people here cannot grasp the positive that can be generated by the negative Is the formation of this 'association' a positive thing?

I dare to say that if I had received a fair hearing at any of the FOUR, (count 'em-- 4)levels of local government on my fleecing for 6 million baht, my story would never have made the international press and become the proximate cause of the birth of the proposed association. Many people around town are blaming ME for hurting business and the name of HH. Well, that's as brilliant as blaming the rape victim for the rape. If the laws of Thailand and the regulations of HH and PKK were followed or enforced my personal rape would not have occurred. You ought to be blaming a certain developer or developers and those who protect them for the tarnished image of HH. If it wasn't me, some other squeegeed idiot would come along sooner or later and put you all through the same turmoil. Some of you property agents are very culpable because you continue to show and sell property that doesn't even meet the engineering standards of Thailand. Property with loose wiring, i.e., not in conduit, or metal roof beams and welds not painted with rust inhibitor. Some of you don't know or don't want to know, but the worst of you do know and don't give a shite. I know some of you and you pose as bastions of decency while pushing tainted property. Disgusting! You want to drive the rape victims out of town for daring to claim you can get screwed, blewed, and tattooed by some of the leading personalities in Paradise City. Pull up your nickers and shut up you advise. Look at all the people who don't get raped here. But that advice only leads to more and more rapes. To stop the raping you got to get rid of the perpetrators, not the victims. Khao jai?

I look forward to working with you in the 'association.'

Well, I'm a renter who lives here, and will be looking to buy in the not-too-distant future. I suppose that makes me a potential customer (even if my wit isn't quite acerbic enough to get an invite to 'the meeting'... ). I've followed all these property threads with interest, looking at and learning from both the good and the bad.

You make some good points HHS. Unfortunately you drown them in a tsunami of sarcasm and bitterness, and all I can see of the sense in your arguments is a little hand waving desperately above the water. Then it disappears.

I'm sure most of us have had disasters of one kind or another in our lives, but you really have to move on at some point before it completely takes over your life.

Dtaii-Maii and anyone else,

If you're serious about wanting to participate, PM VCP, no-one is excluded I don't believe. Anyone who has something constructive to contribute would be welcome.

I think a lot of us are aware of the issues that HHS has had to face and possibly as a result, others that have come forward. I have first hand information from another who never uses this forum.

But as he does admit, albeit with an acerbic wit, there is another side.

HHS, by all means take some credit for perhaps being a reason for this thing happening, but I think the time has arrived (maybe overdue) to stop. You don't need to keep reminding the rest of us of your woes. We have listened, heard and noted. Each will have there own view.

Maybe best from now to take a lower profile and ensure you continue to work from within rather than as an agitator on the outside?

Words of wisdom, Caller. The point of my last post was to take issue with those who constantly call for positivism and berate, would that be the right word?, the value of the negative.

Simon and Garfunkel had it right: a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.

No benefit in beating this old horse.

Am taking your advice and going into low profile mode. I know I'll have to bite my typing fingers but if I don't take your advice, I ain't as schmat as my wife thinks I am!

Thanks again for the well expressed advice, Caller

these olives are for you
Out!

Super Joe, don't try to bait me now. My resolve is strong!!!
