 It sounded a lot like thunder to me

However, I accept my punishment.

We live a long way from Hua Hin but just now I’m hearing repeated bangs in the distance - not very loud no doubt because they’re coming from quite a distance but definitely not thunder.

I've been sat outside the house all morning, and have heard nothing, so I'd suspect a different source for your bangs.

Yes I’m sure the noise wouldn’t travel this far, but as Caller mentioned it was the army on manoeuvres, maybe they’ve moved location to somewhere closer? As I type this, I can still hear regular bangs in the background

Plese dont take what I wrote literally, it was just my way of describing what armies everywhere do, practice firing their weapons et al. Certainly witnessed that in the UK up around The Wash - likely RAF - and Salisbury Plain and the army towns in that region. They might be static for all I know, but it was confirmed the military were responsible.

I remember many years ago hearing repeated distant artillery fire from out the back of one of the military bases towards Pranburi.
Maybe just blanks because I don't think there's an actual artillery range anywhere around the area.

Well similar to what was reported yesterday, regular loud noises (bangs) going off that was definitely not thunder
