It looks like farang must have a yellow Tabien Baan or be registered on a House Registration (maybe that means being named in a house Blue Book?).

Excellent article 404cameljocky.

I think the requirement for the yellow Tabian Taan or house book registration is for the insurance after you leave your employer.

While you work for your employer, they will deduct the fee from you salary.

I think the key point is to realise you have six months after you retire to join the scheme (where if I understand it correctly, you need to show where you are registered. If you have the Yellow Tabian Baan Book you will be listed in the houseowners Blue Tabbian Baan book)

Unfortunately back in 2005 no one informed me about being able to continue within 6 months. I did get a letter from social security but I'd left for a job in Australia and didn't see it until I came back 11 months later. Image There wasn't much info on the internet in those days either. All I got was a refund of my social security payments.

If you're in a yellow book you shouldn't be in a blue book, or vice versa. There should be no need for two entries in the same centrally recorded house registration.

The Premium Clinic at HHH closes its doors for the final time om 31 March 2025. We will be left with just the SMC from 1st April. Personally, I couldn't identify any difference between the 2 in the end.

As I have stated in the post above yours, The Premium Clinic has closed.

SMC continues as before.

I've had a few small medical issues to sort, following last month's accident. No problem I thought, I'll nip in to the SMC.

I soon learnt that SMC is by referral only these days. If you have an urgent problem, the first port of call needs to be the Out Of Hours Clinic (daily 16:30 until 20:00).

Thanks BB. I think the important thing to know is might a referral be denied or is it just a silly/annoying new hoop to jump through? I presume it means your local GP must refer you?

A friend who needs angioplasty asked about the Premium Clinic ln my suggestion and was told at the hospital that it no longer exists, but they didn't bother to mention the SMC to him. I found that weird, but maybe just possibly Thai.

And re the out of hours clinic, you can only have an urgent matter between the hours it's open? :)

I think its more a case of attending the after hours clinic (my GP), which I think is really good. When the GP refers you to the specialist clinic, you can then opt for the cattle market, or request you be seen in the SMC.

Thanks. Is the out of hours clinic the one I'm thinking of - used to be just before/behind the lifts on the ground floor, with one or two GPs attending? I think there are new counters there now.

Yes, the out of hours clinic is attached to A&E now. A much nicer area, and staffed appropriately. I have been impressed by the service there many times.

Just an FYI. My wife had a buf flying into her ear last week. We called Cha am hospital where she is registered for 30 thb, but they do not have a ENT. So we decided to go to HHH, upon arrival they informed her that from now on the 30thb card is not longer limited to a local and/or hospital registration based on address. Can be used anywhere now.
Surprised, but in the end she indeed had to pay just 40 thb for the service, removal of insect and medication......
