Tonight's bill of fare hath about it the very soul of Shakespeare, for verily and forsooth I doth love the bard. And for men of different cloth who bear not my love, a cornucopia of amusements at the base of this poor thread which this poor shadow offers for your delight.

First tho.....what if Shakespeare had written the script for one of my fave films THE BIG LEBOWSKI?

Now for some proper bard

First up the excellent recent BBC productions under the umbrella series THE HOLLOW CROWN. All are the "short" 2hr versions of the play and stuffed with top quality actors

- Richard II
- Henry IV Part 1
-Henry IV Part 2
- Henry V

Now for some other notable Toob versions of Shaky stuff

- Orson Welles' MacBeth
- Orson Welles' Chimes At Midnight
- Richard Burton's Hamlet (1964 live on stage)

- A performance of Mark Twain's "Is Shakespeare Dead" about whether Shaky actually wrote the plays.

- the quiz show QI Shakespeare Special

http://www.youtube.com/user/sasijayaram/videos - source for the QI episode and lots more to see there

and now for some other interesting finds

- Orson Welles' 1930s War Of The Worlds broadcast that caused widespread panic in the USA

- The classic Sidney Lumet 1957 version of 12 Angry Men

- the classic version of Moby Dick

- Hitler: Rise to Evil starring Robert Carlyle as the young Hitler

- Hara Kiri: Death Of A Samurai - stunning 2011 Takeshi Miike remake of the seminal 1950s samurai classic of revenge and honour. Fully subbed in english...an utter masterwork.

Ah verily I am as joyful as a swine in a sty full of slops, caring not for the troubles the morrow may bring.

Enjoy chums

Just a quickie

a treat for fans of Chinese fantasy/history wuxia films - PAINTED SKIN 2: THE RESURRECTION
- full 480p lovely crisp DVDRIP copy hard subbed in English

you can find PAINTED SKIN 1 at but there are no English subs for that one. You will need to download the video, then the English subs from http://subscene.com/subtitles/painted-s ... ish/203330 - these are the ones that match that particular file. Rename the film and subs file to the same names, stick them in one folder, and that way GOM and Media Player and VLC will automatically play the subs file as well as the film. That or start the video then manually drag and drop the subs file onto the player.

The Painted Skin films tell the tragic love tale of the Five Tailed Fox, a heart eating beautiful succubus like demoness who seeks to find the one man who will willingly give her his heart so she can retain human form forever. In part 1 it is a demon hunter she has to avoid, and in part 2 it is the rest of the demon world as she broke their laws by letting the demon hunter in part 1 live rather than killing him.

They are really great films and top class wire fu eye candy. You can watch 2 without having seen 1 as they are standalone story lines. Both are excellent.

Damn good movie.

While walking out of the theater one of my two friends asked why was I laughing during a certain scene, one that I remember as being dramatic, not funny. I told them why and they didn't believe me. This was when few had VCRs so we couldn't verify. Techies generally like films directed by Terry Gilliam, yet I've never found anyone who remembered seeing what I saw even when I describe it. Even if they watched it with their kids the previous weekend.

Can you spot what I laughed at? It's in this screen grab and most of the shots of the scene.
