One really has to have serious doubts about some of these "experts", if this reporting is correct:
Froc explains localised floods
http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews ... sed-floods
In a live telecast on NBT, Froc expert Dr Anond Sanitwong explained about reported floods in certain communities along Chao Phraya river today as due
to unusually high tide from the sea caused by changing wind direction.
Bang Krabue's flood wall was breached as the BMA's 2.5 metre concrete wall was not high enough to prevent high water tide today. The area is now strengthened with sand dykes to raise the height.
Don Mueang flood is localised due to low-lying areas and the flood water seepage from Khlong Prapa.
There is no need to panic as there is no more rain from the North. The present flood is caused by the floodwater in the fields which are bearing down from Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani.
GIS satellite pictures show that this so-called floodwater in the fields in Bang Pa-in and Pathum Thani is shrinking, meaning the government's effort to divert the waterflow to the east of Bangkok to be drained off via various canals is working.
If there is going to be flood in Bangkok from this floodwater in the fields it will be gradual as there is no more fresh floods from rains.
.........................................................................
The monsoon has swung around from South West to North East, any satellite picture will show that. The prevailing wind is now from the North / North East, so how is it causing high tides? I guess the moon does not have any effect in Thailand?
