We opted for the Dusit Thani Carvery Buffet on Monday evening.
We started off in the Polo Bar there for aperitifs - happy hour from 5 - 7 p.m.
Cocktails were priced at 130 baht net, so we went for Long Island Ice Teas and Pina Colada.
Not only were the cocktails excellent, with plenty of the important ingredients, we were also served with a small bowl of mixed salted nuts and some canapés.
The waitress, on seeing that we'd finished the canapés, immediately brought us some more.
There was also a pianist playing pleasant background music on a grand piano.
We had 5 cocktails in all between 4 of us and the bill was 650 baht - no extras, so excellent value and impeccable service.
We then went down to the buffet.
It was held in a beautiful atrium restaurant area with a huge chandelier and a pianist playing on the gallery above.
We had reserved a table overlooking the pool through the glass wall.
The food was incredible - huge choice and beautifully prepared

We had over 4 hours to gorge ourselves on whatever we wanted.
As far as drinks went:
Because 3 of us are dedicated wine drinkers, we opted for the additional free-flow wine offer, which worked out at 750 baht net each. Table water is complementary.
There were about 6 wines to choose from and you can chop and change as you wish. We went for a South African Cabernet Sauvignon and because it was that good, we stuck with the same wine all evening.
So if you're going to drink more than 1 bottle of wine over a period of 4 - 5 hours, which we easily do, it's a really good deal.
Every time a wine glass was close to getting empty, there was a smiling waiter or waitress there to top it up immediately.
I had also specially ordered a 1 pound birthday cake. It arrived at the table right on time with candles, greeting and name on it, the pianist playing happy birthday, and the entire waiting staff singing happy birthday at our table.
My gf was quite overwhelmed and the cake tasted absolutely superb.
As the end of the evening was approaching, the head waiter came and asked us if we wanted to eat more, as the buffet was closing at 10.30 p.m.
We said we were fine and would just have some more wine - he then told us that we could stay drinking until 11 p.m., which we did.
The charge for the buffet itself was 850 ++, i.e. 1000 baht each.
and they didn't even charge us for the birthday cake.
For somewhere with such ambiance and superb quality, I found it to be amazing value for money.
So for that special night out, I can really recommend the Dusit to everyone.
I would like to thank all the staff there and especially the head waiter, Khun Piya, and Khun Jon for making sure that we had such a fantastic evening.
