Wow, I've just logged on and read this. It's gone from richard having you in your box, to a recovery. Welcome back Sarge - just take it easy for a while, and make sure you do what the doctor orders.

Re: Sargent hospitalized
Just for the record, though Sarge still smokes too much, as do I, in the last couple of months, as far as I know, he's had 2 (two) glasses of Beer Leo with ice. Our frequent conversations are fueled by water, except when I'm getting pissed. He still drinks water, even then. He found that getting pissed interferes with his medicine and stopped.
As HHF said, Sarge has a lot of empathy for the poor disadvantaged and disenfranchised Thais. However, I think he relishes arguments here. Resentments and grudges are generally short lived. He's retired. Arguing is a hobby. And believe me, he'll be Devil's Advocate and never tell you that's what he's doing.
I spend a lot of time with Sarge and will relate one short story. During the global warming debate, he spent weeks doing research on the web. Anything that looked 'left wing' or 'right wing' was thrown out and ignored. He did his best to find unbiased science. He would come over two or three times a week and discuss his research. I had no opinion. I didn't have time to study it and wasn't in the debate. I was really surprised at how open minded and far reaching his research was. He would come over, bringing links, and say, "Look at this, what do you think?" He actually cared about the debate, not from a political viewpoint, but from wanting to understand and know the truth and finding a solution if there was one.

Re: Sargent hospitalized
Hi Sarge,
Pleased to hear you appear to be picking up.
I also believe you have not been drinking much beer in recent times
Are you sure that wasn't the reason for your scare, anyway, I'm taking no chances and will now increase my chang intake accordingly!
Please note the above post is said tongue in cheek. There is no way that I would advocate anyone drinking excessive quantities of chang beer
(There might be none left for me
)

Sarge
We can all learn from this, it does make you wonder.
An old friend of mine, from the school of 'my body is a temple...please give generously', says it's just as good a path to follow - unhealthy lifestyle with large quantities of beer, fags and gin and tonics; and physical exercise is limited to walking and breathing, with perhaps lifting the occasional pen.
Not that I'm advocating this in any way.
Get well soon.

Re: Sargent hospitalized
Many many thanks for your best wishes I really appreciate them all.
Just to let you know what went down about 1400hours i was as normal sat at my puter devils advocating (thanks for blowing my cover HHad fan) and i started to get chest pains. by 1500 they were quite bad so i went indoors and put my nitro pill under my tongue 20/30 mins still got chest pains took a second nitro, at some point i must have got up and gone outside apparrently i went down like a sack of crap bust my lip on the floor and emtied all orifices. I came to in the shower with Mrs Sarge washing me down and the ambulance nurses helping who took me straight in (against my stoopid wishes)
I was treated by a gorgeous young trainee doctor who asked was i happy with her (youbetcha) treating me i said yes trainees try harder than the old ones who have seen it all before
A night in ICU 3 litres of battery acid electrolite plus a crazy system they gave me a sleeping pill then woke me up every half hour for checks
Following morning met young cardiologist i like him he larfs at my stoopid jokes speaks excelent english he was on the ball told me i had had a heart arythmia he sent me for ECG 1 and a half hours 2 gorgeous nurses rubbing my tits with jelly and a stick most enjoyable. Cardiologist changed my meds go in tommorrow morning for tests and a meet with doc to check meds working as planned.
Total cost 14,000Bt
Spent today getting my annual visa renewal no problems no stress as normal and very polite
i will be back advocating as soon as the peripheral crap is out of the way

Thanks again for your concern
