Agree with you WL!
I heard of a guy in Latin America who never replied to numerous emails regarding this one issue. When confronted with it by phone, he said he did had not replied because he did not know Mr ASAP

In Sweden you would easily pay 250 bt for a beer in summertime, at least if you want to sit outside ( in the rain!)! So let us not complain!

that is why they call you Saint Phil. Only a Saint would pay 250 baht for a beer !.

I know, I know, your talking about Swedish prices. Well why not go 12 Euro for a pint in Paris, thats 600 baht. And I'm sure there is higher.

This thread started ages ago with Richard pi**ed at 110 baht for a Singha in Bintabaht. I didn't read all the replies in the middle. But when you are here on a budget and your savings are going down the tube every day with the World markets, then 250 baht for a beer, Saint Phil, doesn't really make us feel any better.

Welcome to the forum.

There's no such thing as a 110 Baht Singha around Bintabaht. OP was talking about a lady ordering without asking, ie: 70+40 or 80+30. Beer's cheap here.

hmmm...I can't see, that beer is cheap here...may be on 7/11 ???
Last not least even some bar-owners are agreed that 60 or 70 Baht for a small bottle of local beer is really too much...on the other side, they haven't any other chance, because most Thai-landlords have no limits and increase the lease of bars whenever it's possible.
It's typical Thai-style...no customers?...Income is getting worst?...Than let's raise up the prices! :?
The bar owner has to follow until the game is over!

Depending on brand, 40 - 70 Baht in the bars outside centre of town and 60 - 80 Baht in the main bar strip in the cente of a popular tourist resort. This comes with service at your table and cold towels etc ........... seems cheap to me.

To have a service on table and to get a cold towel isn't a specialty of Hua Hin IMO...it's normal in TH...
A good service will be honored by a tip later and has nothing to do with beer prices, especially not in view of average bars as you can see in HH normally.

Sorry Hogus I should have made myself clearer, was refering to other parts of the world where you have to jostle at a bar for 5 minutes just to pay expenses prices.
Yes it is normal in Thailand, other resorts like Phuket and Bangkok your Hua Hin 70 Baht beer costs 90 Baht in the main tourist bar areas, that why I think Hua Hin prices are good value.

You're true, SJ, there are some more expensive areas in Phuket or Bkk, although I think you can't compare small HH with these places.
You even can't compare it with Pattaya, of course, but the Hua Hin 70 Baht Beer costs about 50 Baht or less in their tourists bar strips mostly (if you don't run into a GoGo).

As i said above, even some HH bar-owners especially around Soi Binthabath confessed to be overpriced, but that are circumstances beyond their control...
So let's pay the prices they must take from us to alive and hope that the lack of tourists and investors will make it even clear to the Thai-landlords, that all has a limit!

Pattaya's main strip (Walking Street) is similar priced or some places more expensive (beer bars, not go-go's) than Hua Hin's equivalent, Binterbaht. But agree it's hard to compare resorts, just always found HH cheaper than the other 'main' places I've been to.
Can't see we've got much to grumble about here, if we're not happy with Binterbaht prices we can drink San Migs/Singha's etc for 45 Baht in some bars out of town centre.

I do not understand this, in another thread "wildest times in Hua Hin" Richard makes himself out to be the Party King of Hua Hin and make's Hua Hin out to be Party Capital of South East Asia. Here he is moaning about the price of Singh Beer and the fact he should pay for a hookers drink, expect she had to sit with him for 30 mins.

All comes out, what sort of ex-pats do we have here in Hua hin, facts please.

Agree with this, just come back from Pattaya, San Miguel 50 baht all afternoon and early evening at most palce's.

Dont think you can compare Walking Street with Bintabaht.
