110 Bhat for a singa light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At a 2 bit bar on Poonsuk
When I challenged it I was told it was a singa lite and the landlady drank it. When I asked who ordered it I was told 'the landlady'
Paid the bin and stormed out Ok, some would say I should not have paid for it. Maybe. They wont see me again or anybody I know
What bar? I cannot say but if you flick your lighter you may get a clue

Sweet lord thats nearly £2.00!!! you would expect to pay that in my local bar in London
Naaaah, you can get lighters in London bars for 75 new pence
All joking aside if they just ordered it off their own bat then f 'em. If you offered it then 110 Baht is about right, LD and all that. One of the only gaffs in town I've never bothered going in, smells of cats wee.

That's nothing....a friend of mine was charged for a small orange-juice without any alcohol, bought as "lady-drink", 120 baht ... happened in one of the greater Bars at Soi Binthabat ...
I suppose it's a new business-strategy to piss off the last few tourists and expats, which dare to come into town ... so the girlies have more comfortable place to chat with each other, to watch TV and discuss the newest fashion-trends without boring disturbances ...

So not a dingy 2 bit bar at all but a sparky 110 bit bar.
If you didn't order the drink you don't have to pay. Thai law.
That's three times at least now you have had problems in Soi Poolsuk at "2 bit" little bars. If you insist on drinking in that soi I suggest you use the more reputable establishments.
For those who jump on the keyboard feet first, the word "more" makes that a relative statement.

Thai law it may be. Try enforcing it at 11.30 at night surrounded with Thai bar girls and Thai boyfriends lurking across the road. Be my guest Guess
As to my previous occurrences? I'm only being informative for the benefit of others. I'm sure there are many who have been stung more than once but don't like to own up to it. Get real man

To be honest richard, I don't feel stung or ripped off for lousy 110 Baht.
The real issue here is that you never ordered the bottle but had to pay for it.
I hope that's why you bother to tell the whole world about it.

Grow some balls man! For the last 10 years I have been coming to Thailand 4 times a year. I also lived in Bangkok for 2 years. I have seen & been involved in many situations like this. You just have to be firm and say "NO". They will try it on, then see if they get away with it.
I bought a drink for a girl at a well-known bar on Soi Sarawat (80) not long ago, only to find that her Thai "cousin" (male), had already paid her barfine and was waiting for her outside, she had gulped down the glass of red wine in 2 swigs!
I refused to pay for it, that was that.
good on you alley cat, the last time a bar bill was crazy(pat pong) I refused to pay and asked them politely to get the police. The bill was revised - correct and paid. 1850 baht of my hard earned money went home with me!
I'm not prepared to grow a second set of balls as I've seen too many either suffer there and then or after the confrontational event
Some of these girls/bar owners have friends in high places and low places. I've seen at least 3 sortings and 1 was for moving a motorbike to allow a car to get out!
Many of the bars have police owners or connections so beware!!!!

As you can see by the first line of my reply it was tongue in cheek but with a serious message. I think I have touched a raw nerve here.
Under the circumstances you mention I am am not surprised you made the decision to pay and get out. Also I agree with the point that you are informing others. However I just stated the law to inform both you and others.
I have noticed extra drinks going on my bill before and have stood my ground and they have always given in in the end.
As my for statement about changing venues. I still stand by that one. There are certain bars that need a wide berth. They seem to exist purely to cater for short stay tourists. In this current climate it is no surprise that they try any con.
