You can purchase new boxes at the post office, inexpensively, and in a variety of sizes up to about a 24-inch cube.

LAnative, Thank you for starting an interesting thread, and for your reasoned responses. It seems to me that you have already conducted a great deal of research and analysis, and are familiar with your own needs and desires, together with many of the issues that may confront you in Thailand. But I a...

And even though I spent half my life in the UK, I can't help you on the other question.

I shall leave that to the experts.

Both are correct.

BAHL is the pronunciation used by the French-speaking community (spelled Basle in French), and BASEL is the pronunciation used by the German-speaking community (spelled Basel in German).

This thread spooked me pretty badly. Bear with me while I explain. I lived in HH until August, then moved back to Thailand (Nakhon Pathom, to be precise). My last 90-day report was in HH on June 28. The next one was due on September 25, according to HH Immigration. I left Thailand on September 19 fo...

There is a video shop on Naebkheharn, about 50m. south of Chomsin, more or less opposite the 7/11. They have a good selection, and I have always found them to be both helpful and knowledgeable. They will allow you to view any dvd before you purchase, so you can see the languages and subtitles. They ...

Georgy Porgy is correct, this place is indeed packed full of Thais every evening, and at weekends you sometimes have to wait an hour for a table.

I don't agree with him about the quality of the seafood, and I find it to be pricey, but that's just my humble personal opinion.

Golden Retriever for adoption

Male, 2 1/2 years old, we have cared for him since he was born.

Excellent health, grew up around young children, not aggressive, but with an awesome growl when needed, and at 35kg carries twice the weight of most soi dogs.

No charge for a caring owner.

Here are a couple of sites to get you started. One is for general electrical appliances and such, and the other for computing products. While they will give you an indication of local market conditions, I cannot vouch for the competitiveness of their pricing nor their delivery capabilities. Also the...

buksida, If you look in the top left-hand corner of the home page, you will see a currency box. If you click on this it gives you a pull-down menu with a choice of numerous currencies, the first of which is Thai Baht. If you go to the Thai language home page, all the prices are in Thai Baht. My gues...

You can try this site:

http://shopforthai.com/en/

You can select language and currency. I've never bought from them and don't know whether they are competitive, but at least it's another data point.

This week I submitted the application for renewal of my marriage visa. I'm just entering my fourth year in Thailand, so this was my fourth such application, and it included two unexpected new demands. By way of background, we had lived in what is best described as my wife's family compound in Phetch...

One really cannot be too careful out here. In an earlier life I was in the private equity business in Asia, taking ownership positions in unlisted companies on behalf of a fund. In one instance in a country that shall not be named (not Thailand) we engaged a supposedly respectable law firm to repres...

If you are spreading your net to include Bangkok-based lawyers, I can recommend Chandler and Thong-Ek (-edit-) and ILCT (-edit-). These two firms have been offering multinational legal services in Thailand for more than 25 years, and have both Thai and farang partners. I have used both in the past, ...
