Re: R.I.P. Khun Lynn. (the owner of Lucky restaurant).

I had a little chat with Lynn the day prior to his passing in his new digs. He was planning a 199 baht Christmas dinner. RIP he was a decent bloke.

Re: Local Thais have no interest in learning English

China has made a massive investment in teaching English, so the Thai's better get with the program or they will be left behind... Jim who owns the language school in Hau Hin said he has way to many Thai students that want to learn English. Banks are asking him to teach all of there staff, so someone...

Re: Big fire down Soi Bintabaat

IMHO this is a loss for HH the Bintabaht had character that added value to it as a destination. I read that none of these bars make money which is rubbish! Sure they have some slow months but make up for it in high season. The problem is bigger than just getting punters in the door! You need pretty ...

Re: beer prices

They don't have shift 40 beers a day if you take into account bar fines and beer bought at full prices. In addition to the watered cocktails... I'm sure it's a fine line between break even and profits all the same... I often think guy's buy bars for something to do, company and ego's...

Re: Hua Hin motorbike and bicycle rentals

Not advertizing prices usually makes me move on to one that does! It's not rocket science to do this even for daily, weekly and monthly rates. Yes and you can even work that in with high and low seasons. I think we all understand that this is a business and demand is greater at certain times of the ...

Re: beer prices

There is another significant difference when we compare the UK to here it’s the size of the beer. In the UK your getting 20 ozs here it’s almost half that. So comparing quantity and quality you’re still getting a better deal in the UK...

Re: beer prices

Good to see the return of Carlsberg! Last night I did the rounds on the Bintabaht! I found Carlsberg in three venues and prices varied from 80 to a cool 160 baht each! The U Turn was charging a reasonable 80 baht and the London Bar 160 baht for one Carlsberg! Yes I inquired if this was an error and ...

Re: Cost of living in Hua Hin

Wow, this has been a most interesting thread! Depressing at times I must admit... I spend six months a year in Hua Hin and don't have a Thai Mrs! I rent everything I need. Condo, motorbike and having fun. I get by on about 60 to 70k a month... That's eating out 100% of the time and having a few bevi...

Re: Farang Bar Owner breaks a guys arm

The owner or former owner of the Limelight was called Kevin. He owned a chain of strip clubs in Canada called Show Girls and sold them for millions. I have met the guy but can't say I have any opinions to share other than to say he was a biker in Canada and that says volumes about his character. I t...

Re: More crime in Hua Hin

Personal security is a major reason why I chose to live in a condo! I feel that condo’s with security at the front door serves us better than the house option. I would certainly agree that a house is a much nicer environment for a family, but it comes at cost and this is one them!

Re: Public WiFi

I would'nt recommend jail breaking a new Iphone! You will lose your warranty and apple support. You can buy a new mobile cheap, about 1000 baht and a thai sim will cost 150 baht. Bring your iphone and use it on the many open wifi networks in resturants and bars.. Fat Cat on the water front has open ...
