Re: Ao Noi
Isn't there a small Thai airbase there too that goes back to WWII? Yes, that's Wing 5 at Ao Manao. You just have to sign in at the guardroom (free entry), really lovely beach, eateries, hotel etc. Well worth a visit. There's also a museum there remembering the battle of Prachuap Kiri Khan against t...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
My understanding was that UK state pensions are not taxed as such, but when pension age is reached, your tax code is amended accordingly. The personal tax allowance in UK is currently £12570, the current full state pension is £11502, so you don't pay any tax on your state pension and there's £1068 ...

Communal costs for rental on development?
When renting a house in a development that has (for example) a communal swimming pool, are there any costs involved and, if so, is it normally included in the advertised rent or paid separately. If paid separately, what would the average rate be? The reason I ask is because it's never mentioned in a...

How, or where, can you get a passport verified? Is there a list of suitable signatories?

Re: VPN Recommendations and Discussion
I'm currently having a look at different VPNs and I see that Nord have 3 different levels, Ultimate, Plus and Basic. Is there any particular level that folk would recommend please?

Re: Fatal shooting in Soi 80 bar
There's an article about it on another forum which reports that, at 4am in the Tiny Club a Police Commissioner shot and killed an Army Sergeant and wounded 2 others.
The Police advisor handed himself, plus firearm, in this morning and is in custody.

Re: Best Way of Getting To Hua Hin
I've used Hua Hin Cab for various trips, including Swampy, in the past. Always on time, safe driver, very accommodating when I changed time/date at short notice (due to my own incompetence I might add). A tad more expensive than Bliss at 2000bht airport to Cha Am, but good, reliable service.

Re: Looking For New Tablet
Most new mobiles come with just the charging cable itself these days, I would imagine that a tablet would probably be the same.

Re: Taxi service to Bangkok airport
I've previously used www.huahincab.com and found them to be very reliable, perhaps not the cheapest, but 2000bht isn't too bad.

You could try looking on Facebook Marketplace as well, or any of the Hua Hin places to rent groups on there, different budgets, areas and lease lengths to suit.

Re: Tourist wants to ride motorcycle legally
The govuk and Thai Embassy websites state that you must have an International Driving Permit (IDP) showing that you're eligible to ride/drive that particular type of vehicle, or a Thai driving licence. If he ain't got either of those then he's not legal, end of. Then there's the travel insurance sma...

Re: Chromebook
I've got an Acer Chromebook with a 17" screen, had it about a year now and it's fabulous. Much cheaper than a Window's laptop, really fast and doesn't need all the security programs. Downsides are it won't host certain things like NowTV and the storage is lower, mine*s 64gb and I've not seen on...

Visa Exempt is now 45 days, however an extension is still only 30 days. Hope that helps.
