Re: Can I divert my thai mobile number to uk mobile?

The OP says he wants to be able to receive calls made to his Thai SIM. Just getting a local SIM will not achieve that aim.

Re: Can I divert my thai mobile number to uk mobile?

If all you want to do is receive calls on your Thai mobile, then you just need to enable roaming on your Thai SIM before you go. As @buksida points out though, that might work out to be quite expensive. Like him, I always use a dual-SIM phone with both my Thai and UK numbers so for instance, I can s...

Re: Electric Cars

So after reading all this talk about batteries and re-charging it seems that the bottom line is that at the present EVs are excellent for driving around town for commuting to work and for short trips but at the moment not suitable for long cross-country trips. Maybe not right now but as Nereus ment...

Re: Electric Cars

I guessed things might have moved on. However, is it a 5 minute job, and hour's job or 4hrs +. I know there will variations, but just a rough ballpark figure would satisfy my curiosity. According to thechargingpoint.com: The typical charge time for pure-electric cars using a standard UK home wall s...

Re: Bat Cave near Cha Am

Went this evening. Easy to find the place with the coordinates given in this thread. Stunning to see so many bats streaming out of the cave for 10-15 minutes. and making patterns flying around in the sky. Is it really 2 million? I can believe it. I can't see any coordinates. Were they removed? If s...

Re: Kbank debit cards Verified by Visa

My wife and I both have Kbank debit cards and I was able to set them both up for online payments. In each case when we first tried to use them, an online process was triggered which worked perfectly well. So as far as I know, they should work but if the online process doesn't work for you then I gue...

Re: Shark Attack - Had Sai Noi

The way I read it, the policy didn't expire, he 'voided' by being out of country for 3 months, disqualifying his coverage. Oops. I think, sit to be corrected. How did they know that he was out of the country for more than 3 months ? Did they check his passport ? Unless there was something very unus...

Re: House market in Hua Hin

but that is how many could get around the land ownership issue, by utilizing Thai/Chinese families. I'm not sure I follow. How would a Chinese citizen with no links to Thailand, 'utilize' a Thai/Chinese family to get around land ownership laws? Perhaps you could explain how you think this would work.

Re: What are the TV service options in Hua Hin.

There is True as well who offer a fantastic satellite TV product - I used them for a long time, but I couldn't get on with their billing system, and had to move on. Many are very happy with their service. I still have a subscription to True Visions TV but their basic line-up does not contain any UK...

Keep in mind that these “scientific facts which are backed by indisputable evidence” In reality these scientific studies are usually funded by the big corporations who want consumers to consume their processed products and same corporations run the main stream media  "Believe half of what y...

Re: Is pla-ra safe to eat?

The main health risk from uncooked pla ra (liver cancer) has nothing to do with the fermentation process, the smell or bacteria, it comes from the liver flukes commonly found in the fish used for pla ra. The following are extracts from a BBC article entitled, "Deadly dish: the dinner that can give y...

Re: Is pla-ra safe to eat?

Anyway not worst and as safe as rotten fish which is a Swedish speciality. If no Swedish died due to this, you can eat pla-ra and will survive. That's dangerously misleading and untrue. Uncooked pla-ra often contains liver flukes which can cause liver cancer. The Swedish fermented fish dish (surstr...

'Shuff" is from Arabic for 'look'.
Also, 'bint' for girl.
Words imported from Middle East during WW1 to become UK slang.
More like WWII and from Egypt/North Africa, I think.

Re: Tax Residency (bank requirements)

After a quick read through this thread – looks like a good idea to open a local interest bearing savings account – as described by GroveHillWanderer above: “For instance, I have never filed a full tax return in Thailand but I do have a TIN which I got (in line with what was mentioned in an earlier ...
