agree with Ellinas....if you have the time and patience, learn the thai script. Its a bit intimidating at the beginning but you will find pronunciation so much easier. If you are learning Thai that has been romanized, it will be very difficult to understand the tones.

I'm taking classes from a Thai teacher in Kaew Tao. He's about 250/hr, but he refuses to teach romanized Thai so you must learn all the consonants/vowels/tone id's ect. Its much easier than i expected..

Skip the romanization/transliteration all together and learn the thai alphabet. Its a steep learning curve, but once you know all the consonants and vowels, and tone id's it all makes more sense and you pronounce the words much easier. If your interested, I know a great teacher in Koaw tao..or Kaew ...
