I own there and I'm happy with it.
The developer was unhappy with unsubstantiated allegations containing no specific information posted by anonymous people.

How do you substantiate you're happy with it? Just by saying so? johnnk, that's substantially anonymous.

I read complaints that were specific, eg leaking roofs. How do you substantiate in a forum your leaking roof? I know the complainers personally. I went to their home when they had a Thai engineer out there to do a damage assessment- a total of 6 leaks. He subsequently fixed them substantially.

If an engineer makes a report on a build and signs it, is that substantiation?
And will HHAD allow one to publish the cover letter, signed, that summarizes the findings of said engineer?

On a more serious note it seems that the law here in Thailand is different to that in the UK. There, the sort of email sent above would have resulted in a "yeah yeah.....see you in Small Claims Court" reply from the Forum or ISP.

Its a shame really isnt it? Personally I'd have suggested he fornicated forth, but I guess the mods on HHAD know the law here better than me and took appropriate steps.

if hhad allowed a free-for-all on commenting on real estate agents, developers, bars and the like, it would be carnage imo as rival farang businesses would use it to harm their competitors

I think that posters should be able to post freely about dodgy builders,mite stop some poor sods loosing money or buying a night mare,knowledge is power against these cowboy's they need chasing outa town, if they dont have anything to hide than it shouldent bother them this forum is a great platform to have your opinion any legitimate gripe aganist a builder the member should make there real name open,and some photographic evedence to make it fair for the right to reply and to balence things.My post is not regarding the for mentioned builder, i just dont like people getting a raw deal a friend of mine has just lost 1 million baht to a builder and has now left HH.My opinion is a personal one .

If people used their own names on forums things could be more free, otherwise there are too many nutters out there who would create havoc.

Lev has already stated the situation as regards HHAD & this developer & his communications.

If any of you have any smart-alec comments about what you think HHAD should have done - then please feel free to pm those comments to Lev or any other mod. I really don't see the point of members (all happily hiding behind their own anonymity) chastising the admin & mods of a forum for the decisions that were made. Please bear in mind that these decisions still managed to let everyone know what had actually happened.

BTW, HHS, yes, photographic endorsed evidence would have been accepted & was requested, but was not forthcoming. Accusations with no proof to back them up are a little risky to run with, wouldn't you agree?

I had a house built by that bloke steve with the pony tail and he made the roof out of paper mache,then ran off with all the money .Got this new company to sort it out "bodgit and scarper ltd."

There are rogues out there that have hurt both financially and personally a number of people,including some members of this forum .

Thankfully there are also a huge number of good people here with high levels of personal and business ethics .I hope sincerely that these are the ones you find .

Roofs leak everywhere and there were torrential rains in HH at the time, worst in 40 years some said.
I had no leaks while some had minor ones and others had serious ones. Not every house on the project was constructed by the same builder.
Fair play to post pics of the problems but others simply screamed accusations and comments that would be defamatory in their own western country.
IMO, HHAD dealt with it correctly in the way Dawn said.
TiT and there are ways of dealing with problems to achieve mutual satisfaction.
