TT&T, TOT, CAT and veoh[dot]com

Post by repsol »

Hi there,

I don't know how many of you knew stage6[dot]com, the site has been shut down by the owners on the 28th of Feb. until then it was THE place to watch (stream) videos in DVD quality.

When they shut down stage6 I tried to go back to veoh[dot]com, which used to be THE place to watch videos for me. For some reason I could not open the website, I would always get some weired connection/server error.

I asked just about everyone I know who has Internet in Hua Hin, if they could open the website or not. Pretty much everyone replied and the result was... strange...

TT&T users: server/connection error
TOT users: government warning - site banned
CAT: website opens fine, no issues

I researched a bit, and found out that veoh[dot]com was banned together with youtube[dot]com a couple of years ago. It seems, that after both websites had been "unbanned", some Internet Providers simply forgot about veoh[dot]com.

So, I called TT&T and told them about what I have figures out. The Support under 1103 cannot even open veoh[dot]com, and they simple didn't believe that anyone could open it. So, I actually was asked to send them a screenshot from a friend's computer that was able to open the website!

After I had sent them the screenshot, they called back and said they will have to talk to THEIR provider (I know it is CAT)... after that I haven't heard from them, and the website is still not opening.

So, I thought I try once again calling them today, the support said again they can't open the website, and that is MUST BE a webserver error not theirs. I told her, that CAT users can open the website just fine, and since CAT is their provider the problem is 1000% with THEIR servers/system. Now a technician will call me back once again...

Normally I would say TiT, but in this case it must be TiTT&T, I've had a CAT line before and their customer support is probably the best I have ever had, while TT&T just about every time tries to tell you it is you fault. Theytell you to use other DNS server, to reboot your computer, and whatnot...

I am moving on the 1st of April, and I will get the twice as fast CAT line, that is for sure.

If you are on a TT&T or TOT line, give it a try to open veoh[dot]com IF you can open it, please let me know...

Hey!

Like i said, this is a Thailand (TT&T and TOT) problem.

People with a CAT (or True) line in Thailand should have no problem opening the site directly (your first link)...

You are in Australia, you shouldn't have any problems at all, I am very surprised that the site doesn't open for you directly, but a "subfolder/-page) does... that makes no sense at all...

Thanks for letting me know though ;)

Veoh is very nice! The player is also nice, you can subscribe to "channels" and it will automatically download new "episodes"...

Have a search on google or yahoo for "quicksilverscreen" they have a list of full movies on veoh and other websites for direct stream, the others are so so quality (like youtube googlevideo etc) veoh ones are in pretty good quality ;)

My wife's pigeon English interpretation says that "They are sorry, but the site's content is not good for Thai people."

I just can't wait for the real translation to appear

boz, you must have a TOT line, it's the typical message you get for websites that are censored by the government.

Interesting to hear, that TT&T with JiNet is working... I have TT&T with Maxnet Premier package... wish I had read this before talking to TT&T again.

Today I got a phone call from TT&T, a guy speaking really good English, he said the website is banned by government orders... I told him that this can't be the case, as some ISPs do grant access to the website. I even mentioned that veoh.com asn youtube.com were banned a couple of years ago, but the ban had been lifted... and I think they forgot to lift the ban.

He is researching now, wheter it is them who forgot to "unban" the website, or the others who forgot to set the ban....

I hope I'm not responsible for having the site censored thailand-ISP-wide

This is what my wife and me came up with:

1. line: "The status [or "position"] of the Thai (organ/organization/body) [for Internet content.]"
2. line: "do not connect to this website"
3. line: "because text, picture, text message, [content] is not not (suitable/appropriate)"
4. line: [and] may have [negative] effects on Thai people [, this] cannot be accepted.

[added for clarification]
(multiple choice...)

Tried opening www.veoh.com from Thailand lateley?

You'll see this:
Veoh is no longer available in THAILAND.

just tried to open the website again... for those who have the veoh tv installed, you can stil use it to search through their videos and watch them, just the site will not let you view it if you are located in Thailand.

Amazing... this is the first time I see something like this being done by the site operators instead of the thai governemnt blocking the access to it.

Weired...

well, there are plenty enough other sites out there and watch-movies.net luckely always offers many alternative video downoads... and there is always a way around these blocking b******s...

If anyone has trouble accessing a website, and would like to get around that... let me know ;)
