House Lizards

Outside not a problem but get on my nerves a bit at night tuk-tuk ing in the house. Any way of discouraging them from inside the house ?

I love the little critters... You want them inside as well as out, they chow down on all the flies and winged things.

Oh, they're lovely. A house in Thailand isn't a home without them. In answer to your question, though: No, I don't think there is a way to keep them out.

The only thing is that have a propensity to crap on any food that's left outside the fridge. Mind you, that lazy action attracts ants and cockroaches as well.
Give me an outside "tookay" as well any time.

Jingjoks are great .. kind of cute little buggers .. shy enough to stay out of your way. Cats love them as well.

I didn't think that Tookays bit? I thought they had suction pads that made them difficult to get off you or your clothes. Thats all.
I'll be corrected on this, but I thought they were OK. A night in Buriram was never the same without one kicking off and I was was know during those days as Mr Tookay by all the taxi drivers from the bus station in Nang Rong.

I've had a red-spottet Tockay outside my house for four years now, even hand feeded him from time to time, but he never shown any sign of aggression. (He's actually quite cowardly if you ask me).
Are you sure you don't mistake your Tockay for a Forest Gecko?
They look quite similar.

A long time ago I heard a saying that if the jing jokes leave a house then that house will have bad luck.

Anyway as most others say, they eat mosquitos etc. Rather have them than little biting insects.

No, not sure. I was going by the lizard's "too-kaaay" call. One night I closed a swing-out window where he had apparently been perched. He fell into the room and, unfortunately, landed on my bare foot. It bit me on the top of my foot (just behind the toes) in the process. The bite wasn't severe but seemed to take a long time to heal.

Lack of aggression in animals in definately no guarantee that they won't bite. In most cases, rattlesnakes, tigers, cobras, etc will run away .. until they decide to fight .. and bite.

It's quite possible you got bitten by a Tokay, klikster. They're carnivores, so would be capable of giving a bite. Bad luck that it landed on you like that. They're not generally aggressive though.

We have them here in Cairns Australia as well. the Japanese guests in my hotel call down to reception saying they have "Baby Crocodiles" in their room
