Looking for flat-screen monitor

Post by huahindolly »

I want to buy a flat-screen monitor, say 22-24". I looked in the computer store next to Halex, and the prices are about double the U.S. Do the prices get any lower anyplace else in Hua Hin, or even Bangkok? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hardware prices are generally higher in Thailand than the US. That particular store is known for inflated prices though, you'll get one cheaper in Bangkok, I use this site as an indicator of hardware prices in Thailand:

You can get a good deal at Pan Tip Plaza in Bangkok.

But watch your cash. Lots of pick-pockets on the prowl!!!

buying from Thanni.com?

Post by huahindolly »

Thanks for the monitor tips! I took a look at the monitors on thanni-dot-com, and the prices are much better there than in Hua Hin. Has anybody bought from them? Are they reliable? It'd be great to pay 300 B for shipping and avoid the trek to BKK.

I've never actually used that site to purchase hardware, just as a price guide.

There is a place in Hua Hin that orders kit from Bangkok at very similar prices, its called IT-net and is next to the Shell station on Petchkasem Road heading north. I always get my computer supplies there, the most reliable place I've found this side of the big smoke.

Buksida,

I found the monitor I want, BenQ "FP222Wa" 22" Wide Screen Silver/Black LCD Monitor Retail 8500B, at thanni. So, can I go to the Hua Hin store near the Shell station and give them this order? Will they get me the monitor for nearly the same price? It's 8850 from thanni including 300B for delivery, which seems reasonable to me - I'm just concerned if I have problems, what to do.

Not sure who I'm replying to here :? Multiple accounts I see!

Yes, print off that page and take it into the store to see what price they'll give you, it wont be as good as that but it'll be close and better than the other place. They may not be able to get that exact model but will get a similar brand such as LG or Samsung.

CliveBlive and whoever

It-Net are excellent

Always helpful. If they cannot solve it they have contacts in BK who can

They also get quotes before work is done giving you the option and I don't think they overload the bill

I've bought accessories there only to find not compatible with my laptop. Instant refund with a smile too

Some of these places are now learning what service and repeat business means

The guy who runs the place speaks reasonable English and seems to know what he's talking about. If he doesn't know the answer he will tell you so

Aye, its where I sent you with the laptop problem. :thumb:

I get all of my kit from that place, recently bought a graphics card in there that was actually cheaper than Bangkok! They must order in bulk, have a store in the city somewhere and decide not to overcharge.

A refreshing change.

Bought a monitor at IT-NET

Post by huahindolly »

Thanks for the recommendation, Buksida! I ended up ordering the monitor I wanted from IT-NET for only 100 baht more than what I found on thanni.com. And, 30% less than the computer store next to Halex (Parwin? Panwin? Funny, I can remember the name of the WINE store, but not the computer store.) The owner was quite pleasant, and when delivery was going to be a day later than confirmed, he called & emailed me to let me know. Looks like a gem. And, it save me the trip to BKK.
