JOBS YOU HATE

Post by PAINTER01 »

I'm working on a barn conversion at the moment and its been a few years since I done it last and I forgot how much I hate it.

FIBRE INSULATION; given all the protective clothing, face mask's you have to wear you start to sweat almost straight away then the itching starts you scratch and then rub the fibre in your skin :cuss:

One more day and it will be done, next time regardless of cost I'm paying some one to do it.

Mmmmmm, I remember when I was 23, me and a mate had a bright idea we would buy this old bank building and turn it into 3 luxury apartments back in Scotland, grand strategy was 2 years work which was to involve supervision of local contractors and hey presto we would be rich, 7 years latter after, the reality was we didn’t have enough money and ended up doing everything ourselves almost, plastering, roofing, painting, helping tradesmen, running cable under floors, knocking walls down etc etc for almost 7 years…….all these jobs were a nightmare

Its 04-30 here at Luxembourg airport and I’ve spent the last couple of hours out in the pouring rain servicing a tired old cargo 747 that belongs to an Icelandic company. I’m tired, wet, and cold, and right now I’m not exactly overawed with this job!

Used to put in sewer and water lines here in California. I was the laborer, and when a new sewer connection had to be connected to a existing (and active) sewer line, well you can imagine.

Grouting the connection with chunks of cement falling, and splashing, into the flowing sh*t....

Bean counting is better (usually)

Office work sends you insane after too long staring at the four walls!
But the nastiest job was coming back from LOS last year in April to start work on an asbestos demolition job in Glasgow!
There were five of us at the first days work and the job was horrible. It was pissing it down, freezing and the Scots moved at a blistering pace expecting us to keep up. Absolute backbreaking toil. The heavy handed buggers who were clearing out the toilet section smashed the sewer pipe, the smell (even with a mask on) almost made me sick in the mask!
The next day the four other gimps from Middle England scarpered and that left me, the only englishman among the land of scot!
Glad to working on the rigs now :)
