Photo of the month competition June 2007

Post by buksida »

Welcome to HHAD's new photo of the month competition (POM).

There are two categories, one for Hua Hin only photos and one General photos which can include anything (no obscenities though please).

The two links below will take you to a reply window where those with permission can upload their entry. All those that replied to this thread can now upload images direct to the forum. If you want to upload just reply here and we'll give you permission.

When you reply you'll see a link as follows:
Image

That will popup a window enabling you to upload your image. Once you have uploaded your image, click the "Standard" link and it will be inserted into your post.

Rules:
1) All submissions must be original works taken by you that have not been previously published on a website or anywhere else.

2) Submitted photos must be unaltered. Only cropping, sharpening and brightness/contrast adjustments are allowed.

3) Members are only allowed to submit one image per month within each category. If more than one image is submitted to the same category, only the first will be accepted.

Criteria:
1) Images must be a maximum of 800x600 pixels, any larger will get rejected.

2) Images must be a maximum filesize of 200Kb, any larger will get rejected.

3) Image uploading is only open to members with 10 or more posts.

Competition:
1) All entries will go into a hidden section viewable only by Moderators, who will select the best 10 for each category.

2) New entries will not be available after June 19th.

3) The top ten for the month will be put to the poll on the forum on June 21st until June 30th. They will be identified by number alone (and not member until a winner has been voted).

If you wish to contribute reply here or PM one of the mods.

Enter the Hua Hin POM June 07
Enter the General POM June 07

Any questions? Post them here and get snapping!

One thing may be the limit on file size? I played around with a photo and Photo Editor and no problem changing the pixel size to match the criteria. However, no way I could find to reduce the file size? Pete

When you export your pic as a jpeg it will have a "quality option" of 1 to 100, 100 will produce the largest file size so you should save at around 75-80.

  Sorry, I don't take photos that often when I'm not on holiday - and as I said in my original response "In the unlikely event that I ever take a photo good enough...." Be assured, as soon as I take a lucky shot, you will get it.

Sam,

It's not very difficult, but the first thing you have to do is get your photo posted on the internet so that it can be picked up.

If you go into something like Yahoo and register to use their free flickr facility, uploading photos to the net is simple when you've got that far, ask again.

This is no longer necessary, you can upload direct to the forum now.

1) Prepare your image. Photos must be 800x600 or less and less than 250Kb file size so you cannot upload pictures direct from your digital camera, they will be huge. If you do not know how to do it this website will do it for you: http://www.shrinkpictures.com

2) Save your resized pic on your computer, My Documents or whatever.

3) Reply to the enter POM links in the first post.

4) Click the "UploadPic" link above the reply screen, as shown in the image in the first post.

5) Upload the pic and insert it.

6) Done.

Only members of the Snappers usergroup on HHAD can upload pics. Let us know if you want access!

Easy way to resize is use the left click button and do the send to mail recipient, this makes the pics smaller. Just then copy and paste from the dialogue box into a file in your pictures. This is so easy, must be if i can do it!

Bit awkward for me at the moment as only have use of a rather restrictive work pc. But will be back soon and then will take part....

Just follow the steps in the first post, when you reply to something you'll have the option to add a pic using the "UploadPic" link as shown in the image in the first post.

When I uploaded my pic and sent the post it went straight on to the forum! Just edited it out - is this meant to happen?
