So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.
Sure it’s not Niagara Falls, but it is worth a visit. You follow a jungle trail, climbing up the mountain. It is really a series a mini falls with rock pools spread along the way. The water is really refreshing after you have been climbing for a while. The fish are quite tame and amazing to watch. There are also some of the best butterflies you will ever see. We have also come across wild elephants on the road to PalaU. What is in the video clip is only a tiny fraction of what you will see if you do the trek.
Palau-U is not a spectacular waterfall like Niagra, but it is a pleasant day out and a good walk. I have good memories of going up there several years ago with my partners cousin and all her friends from the old Hogs-breath bar. I particularly remember the laughs we had with the girls demonstrating their Issan village skills at catching fish without resort to angling equipment. Actually it's hard to forget the experience of having eight inappropriately dressed Thai girls jumping around in a rock-pool, throwing live catfish at you!

The following posters are correct. Also the amount of water changes throughout the year. The trek alongside the falls goes on for about 2 KM until you reach the largest drop and the end of the trail.
As for the wild Elephants, they do stray out of the park sometimes and go on the road. Be careful of them. The excellent road awareness demonstrated by their domesticated cousins is not inherited but learned. The wild ones can be quite stupid on the road and the can be aggressive.
