Meter Taxi from Suvarnabhumi
Now the new airport has opened at Suvarnabhumi, how much are the Meter taxis charging to HH?
Also how long does it take now?
TIA

Whereabouts did you get it from ?lomuamart wrote:We got a tout there in October. He wanted 2,500 and we settled on 2,300.
He and his friend were good folk in a decent Volvo. They stopped whenever I wanted more beers, so I gave them 2,500 anyway.
We are arriving in January and it will be our first time into the new ariport.

train

The 1300 hrs train is a proper trasin of about 12 carriages, I think it may go down to the border.
It crawls out of Bangkok but you can hang out of the windows, sit on the steps whatever.
Now the good part, I had a seat next to the kitchen/bar carriage, large singhas not much, some nice cooked prawns again not much.
The 1300 is OK because I am not doing much in the afternoon anyway, arrives HH about 5 -5-30, tuk tuk to hotel, SSS and then fall in love.
I just love Thailand.

Sorry to be pedantic, but as I'm not going directly from the new airport to HH, rather spending a night in BKK to recover from my long flight from Glasgow via Amsterdam, what I want to know specifically, is where does one locate the taxi-meter stance ? Until one learned where it was in the old airport, it wasn't immediately obvious. The touts sound as over-zealous as ever, so how does one find the stance now ?
Thanks in anticipation.

I have not yet used a taxi meter at Suvarnabhumi. the first time I arrived I had a car waiting and on another occasion the cabs were on strike.
I think it is similar to Don Muang which means you can also go up the escalator to departures and collar one there.
Bangkok cabs are still same same, very reluctant to use the meter, in fact that is why the cabs were on strike, meter probelems.
In Bangkok even with my TG telling the driver to put the meter on, about half are very reluctant to.
In all fairness some of the drivers are very good and I give them a bigger tip and the scammers no tip.

This is now out of the question, tried it myself a few weeks ago and police are patrolling the area not allowing picking passengers up, moving cabs out quickly and sending punters downstairs. They are patrolling on bikes so they can patrol the whole area quickly.Gus wrote:philip
