Use the Hilton many times adn still recommend it.

If you still want to be close to the centre the Sofitel has to be worth a look also, but I never tried it.

With the Hilton, you step out and you are already there...

Hilton is a bit more modern than most in town, but cannot go past the Sofitel. Stayed there last year and thought it was very good value.

Also if you are in Bangkok, the Sofitel on Silhom (not sure if the spelling is correct). Stayed there a few weeks ago in what they call the Executive Club.
Has its own personal check in section, you get free afternoon tea and also more importantly 2 hours free drinks and finger food in the Executive Club Lounge every day.
Also breakast is held in the lounge as well, not in the normal part of the hotel. Also had free internet access.
Cost was about $235.00 Australian Dollars per room.

I stayed in the Marriott for a week about 3 weeks ago - it was very good. The staff were really friendly, the room was excellent and the cost was around £90 per night (excutive King room).

It's a 60 baht tuk tuk to the bar area, or a 10-15 minute walk.

I'd recommend it.

I haven't stayed at Hilton or Sofitel so can't do any comparisons.

I vote for Sofitel in HH, for the atmosphere and nice garden, Marriott has smaller rooms and pool area, but is ok.

Agree w. Chelsea: in BKK, Sofitel Silom is really worth it, excellent service on the executive floors and close to everything.

As to BKK

Post by ITKMAN »

I'm a died in the wool J.W. Marriott guy. I'm ther about 40 nights a year and always get a nice room, exec level. I've never seen the #1 room but had been in @#2 many times, has a sitting/TV room adjoining Office/Desk area and a sperate bed room with another sitting chair. I don;t know whatg the cost is but I'm on the list for end rooms which seem to be much nicer.

Now, seems the Hilton is a go...I'm a nobody in their program so any tips for an on-line booking...Planet Holiday or what?

For what it is worth, I will be staying at the Hilton. Recommended to me by a frequent visitor. Good value too!

Fresh Inn Hotel is a third of the price of the Hilton, and closer to Bintabaht is that is a consideration.

Sleeping bag under the pool table at Sugar Cane Bar.
In the heart of the nightlife but on a quiet tree-lined soi of great character.
