Queen's Park/Rest Detail

Some places that have just come to my attention. Queen's Park. Looks nice in the photos. Worth a visit? Also nearby is the 5* Rest Detail Hotel. Nice place for a meal? Can you walk from one to the other along the beach?

Very little at Queens park, which you can't see in about 5 minutes. The walk is possible if the tides are right.

I personally find that whole area depressing. Closed and boarded up buildings, the old scene space now some sort of hotel / day club complex where no-one seems to visit. A couple of hotels opposite, the old immigration building decaying, next to a stupidly positioned tourist police building, playing, 'spot the tourist'. Empty and neglected plots, and a single bored solider playing on his phone, in his sentry box, nearest the palace. The area is crying out for development.
