That beer fine story is making headlines around the world, highlighting how stupid this place really is at times.

He shared a photo of a beer on Facebook. Thailand fined him more than US$4,000

Turns out the man is a biology teacher at Assumption College in Bangkok. All he did was post a photo with a review. Just as I have done dozens of times on these pages not realizing that I was a dangerous criminal.

Most of his FB posts are either family or biology related. Time to get him behind bars so he won’t do any more damage to society.

Thailand deserves to be a laughing stock for so many reasons.

In view of the above highlighted issues I'm not sure if I can name a beer on here ??
Anyway I have been buying this beer to drink at home for some months now. For me it's the nearest thing to a European beer produced by any of the major brewers here in Thailand. In the last few days, however, I can't find any bottles at my three usual suppliers which are Makro (Pranburi), Villa Market or Bluport Food Hall.
I'm guessing that the premium price has not gone down well with Thai beer drinkers and that maybe Singha has ceased production. Has anyone heard anything?

My son, a confirmed Chang addict, has been in Europe for a couple of weeks. He came home last night and cracked opened a bottle of Chang. The look of absolute disgust on his face as he necked the first swig was memorable

He was persistent though, and gradually adapted.

It's bizarre but I've been drinking Leo when I'm in Thailand for years and I always enjoy the first one when I get back.
I know it's not a high quality beer but for me it tastes like home.
I've never found Leo in Europe but I do buy the odd bottle of Chang from the Asian supermarket here.
To be honest, I like beer to have a bit of a harsh taste, you need something to remind you it's going to hurt tomorrow if you over do it!

I recently purchased a beer at a bottle shop here in Korat called 586 West Coast IPA. It was a bit too citrusy for me. But, the interesting thing is that it had no tax stamp even though it was brewed by The Craft Alliance in Singapore. Any ideas on how they managed to circumvent the import tax?

Another oddity is that the label is not printed on the can, as usual, but stuck on.

Today I bought four 500 ml cans of Oranjeboom premium lager beer – ABV 5% (blue/silver can) - at the Makro in Cha Am. It has the import sticker on it and says brewed and canned in the EU. It also has a BBE date of 25 JAN 2024. Price was 55 baht per can. This is the first time that I have seen this beer at Makro. I never had it before, but for the price I decided to give it a try. I’m chilling it down now for this weekend.

It also has a BBE date of 25 JAN 2024. Price was 55 baht per can. This is the first time that I have seen this beer at Makro. I never had it before, but for the price I decided to give it a try. I’m chilling it down now for this weekend.

That's almost the same price as the UK (£4.79 - 204 baht for four). Can't see those hanging around long. Their premium strong lager (8.5%) is fairly popular here.

Oh blimey, don't get me started on Oranjeboom, which I have seen in a few places in Thailand. But as soon as I hear 'Oranjeboom', I just start singing that daft advert from the 80's. It also takes me back to one of my favourite London Pubs, De Hems, in Macclesfield Street in London, which back in the early nineties, sold it on draught. I can't recall why there is a Dutch pub in that location, on the edge of Chinatown and in what must be one of the shortest streets in London. And why was any street in London named after Macclesfield?

Anyway, here's the ad. I am warning you, this can seriously affect your life!
