Book Group/Writers

Post by hollygolightly1 »

Hi everyone, I wondered if there are any other writers (amateur/professional) here? There's certainly enough material for a few novels... If so, it might be fun to meet up and share work? Or maybe we could start a book group - either online or not. It doesn't have to be too highbrow; I think cocktails and literary criticism are always a good combination...
Any takers?

Me too - anyone know of any good living authors whose first language is English?

Hows that for a start?

Sadly, I can't make any claims on being a writer, apart from dabbling in poetry.

Well, I was part of a group in rainy Glasgow before I moved out here and we would take it in turns to email one another work (a few poems/a short story/ pages of something in progress) then meet up to discuss what we liked, what we didn't. Or we could send links to articles to discuss. In Glasgow we met up weekly but some people came every week, others dipped in and out... depends how busy you all are.
Open to suggestions... especially on good cocktail bars.

I've written a book (and I'm working on few others) but it's in Finnish so won't be understood by most of you (or even Finns.) However, I'd be happy to join the group just as Jockey for the cocktails at least.

Never had anything published or been part of such a group before but I am have interlectual and creative pre-tensions innit!

Me? I'm just pretentious! 8)

I'll amend my question to any non-English authors, as in not born in that part of the celestial Kingdom!

Great :P
What do you all think? Should we exchange emails via private messages / arrange to meet somewhere for those that can? How often?
Where are all the women? There must be some that like reading?!
