Looking for a laptop, anything that will connect to internet and play movies in hotels for when i rarely travel. anything from a pentium3 400mhz 6 gigs up say.
My last laptop got nicked along with jewelery downstairs I think by the cleaning lady but we had workers outside doing a car port around the same time so no proof. No more cleaning lady or the like allowed in the house. Used have a small program that used voice acivated record sound and post it to email but it wasn't working right because xp.
never found any other software that would post to internet and hide itself for if a laptop got robbed.

You really need to be looking at a higher spec than that for XP and movie playing. Ideally you need 750MHZ or greater with 512KB RAM and at least 20GB disk.
As for security software I am not sure but also have doubts about the effectiveness in Thailand.
To deter the casual theif security cables are quite effective. They attach at one end to the laptop casing and you connect the other end to somenthing solid or very heavy. The are made of hardened steel rope so can not be cut easily.
