scooter ride in HUA HIN

Hello to all the good people...

Me and my wife will arrive first time goto hua hin on sunday (22/11) for 1 week to intercontinental hotel.

What i am asking is: is it reccomended to hire a scooter in hua hin ? I allready ride few times in thailand in the past (samui and phangan). I want to be mobile, actually the rides will be the main town and to khao takiab from and to the hotel (mainly after sun go down for nightlife). And maybe to premium outlet ( cha am).
The roads in hua hin is safe ? Easy to drive ? Police problems and rules ? Compare to chaweng(samui) area for example.

And if its ok... I will be glad for some decent and honest place to rent one (110\125cc).
