Some places do but the rate of exchange offered is daylight robbery.
My advice, bring US dollars from UAE. Large 100 USD notes get a better rate than smaller denominations.

Would suggest they should be the new style bill with the colors etc. I have a stash of emergency $100's with me here that are 10 years old, and the older style. Useless as no bank here will exchange them. Just use for travel and mad money when back in the west now. Pete

Also notes to be exchanged need to be free of any scribbles and rips. Why do people write on bank notes anyway?

You'll be surprised but most banks will pre count, wrap and write the amount on the top bill.

Read about 100 posts and am now thoroughly confused. :? LOL not unusable for me I guess.
Don't want to carry around a wad of cash and my bank is a total ripoff ... for a charge of say 3200 baht (US $100) they want $6 plus 4% = 320 baht or 10% for the transaction.

Where can buy a prepaid debit/charge card in HH? Or any better solution appreciated?

I don't think you can get one here. In the UK The Post Office do them, though I have no experience with them. I use one from a company called Caxton FX who I've never had any problems with - I get about 1.8bt below the mid-market exchange rate when withdrawing cash and no fees on their side (can't avoid the 180bt foreign card fee, unfortunately)
