Why oh why do foreigners walk around at night without their shirts on?

You might think you look sexy walking up Soi Binterbart at night in speedo's (yes i have seen such a sight) with your beer belly scraping on the floor or your torso festooned with scenes from the Beano. Well i got news for you pal - YOU AINT! Save it for the beach and show some respect to our Hosts and the rest of us.
Sorry for that rant but it had to be said.
Unfortunately there are more and more people coming to Hua Hin with the attitude I'm on my holdiays so I'll do what I like, disregarding the local customs.
I saw one idiot riding a motorbike along Petchkasem road wearing a pair of shorts and a crash hat. Didn't even have a pair of sandals.

On a more serious issue, everyone on this forum would seem to agree that poncing around town with only a pair of speedos is gruesome, but is there anything that can be done about it? Thailand is getting dreadful press and TV coverage over here after the awful murder in Goh Samui, all of which is based on the premise that Thailand is full of western sex tourists and Gary Glitter wannabes. This is legitimised largely be being written by journalists who either currently live or have lived in Thailand. Anyone who doesnt know Thailand or HH who sees a red or tanned belly wobbling up Bintabaht is inevitably going to come to the same conclusion.
We all know that Mr T has been cleaning up some of the more extreme areas. I cant speak for Pattaya as I've not been for 5 years, but Patong was already becoming a much less salacious place well before the tsunami. (and one of the very few go-go bars is currently for sale on Asia Sun Belt for almost nothing). Is Thailand a modern day Sodom and Gommoroh, or is that its past and things are on the up now? And is this perception changed by awful farang rudeness?

You are only slightly off piste on this one. Perhaps a new thread is needed on this topic of "How Thailand is seen as a tourist destination by farang". My belief, a few years ago was that Thailand was going in the right direction. Now I am not sure.
Sad incidents can happen in any holiday retreat and unfortunately most seem to involve the young and inexperienced traveller.
Any way, back on topic.
Will all you morons out ther who think you look good with you great big fat beer filled bellies and mickey mouse tatoos do the majority of us a favor and where a shirt and full length trousers. Sexy man you are not. Thai ladies have better taste than that.

Statistically the single man sex tourism trade counts for twenty per cent of the overall tourism market. I would like to see the remaining eighty per cent catered for.
I have just spent a few hours with a Dutch friend discussing this very subject and parallels wer made between Pattaya and Amsterdam.
The Dutch figured the solution about twenty years ago.
