Mobile phones

Post by cavkc »

My wife and I both took our UK mobiles to HH. Both phones are on O2 and have international calls activated etc.

For some reason however, texting would only work from my wife's phone, not mine. We tried switching to all the various networks available without success. Anyone experienced this before ?

same same my wife, using another provider though.

best would be to use a SIMcard from the local provider in HH ( must have your mobile unlocked for that though) thats what we"ve been doing after the first time.. (300 EUR telefon bill for one week .....)

roaming

Post by Mr Jame! »

I had problems using roaming, texting took weeks to get through and sometimes i couldnt hear the person calling me but they could hear me. Get it unlocked and put a cheap thai sim card in 5 baht for first minute then 2 baht a minute after. My uk orange was 80p a minute to call in thailand and still had to pay when people called me !

I couldnt find a shop that would do mine 'cos it was too new, but I have found someone now who's good and am reccommending him now Chan Neun call first to check phone model - 070 211 748 at the tanawit hotel in tanawit square opposite the wat in center hua hin.

When in Thailand using roaming and can not get a connection for International calls I generally switch to AIS GSM and get a connection immediately. Strange that this is the network run by Shinawat Corp who own the Satelite and until recently owned by the 'Shinawatra Family.'
