Internet and forum security recommendations

Post by Lev »

We have had a few goings on lately involving some strange PM's from certain members so I would like to make a few suggestions regarding basic internet security.

We have not been hacked by any means and the software powering this board is updated regularly by our team of technical wizards.

Please use sensible passwords for your accounts (including letters and numbers), if possible change them now and then.

If you can avoid it don't use internet cafes or public machines but I know this is not an option for many of you so if you have to use one make sure you:

a) Logout when you have finished.
b) Close all browsers when you have finished.
c) Do not save any passwords if prompted by the browser.
d) Try and avoid internet cafes with antiquated machines and software.
e) Don't let anybody else use your account.
f) To be ultra secure, delete the cookie HHAD places after use.

Maybe this will help to reduce some of the anomalies if that is what they have been.

As you know i am not very sharp where computers are involved, are people saying that they have had pm's sent from their address without their knowledge?

Only two so far, so if there are any more then here is the place to let us know.

Note: we know alcohol can often hinder judgement and writing ability
