Re Entry Permit

Post by Bomber »

Sorry if this question has been asked before but I have searched and cannot find an answer to my question which is:

I have a 12 month OA multi entry retirement visa and I will be travelling regularly out of Thailand over the next 12 months. Do I need to obtain a re entry permit every time I travel outside the country. I have read somewhere that if you do not get a re entry permit then your visa can be invalidated however I am not sure if this applies to a multi entry visa?

Yes, which is why it makes sense to get the multi-entry option for 3800 baht. Each single re-entry permit costs 1000 baht and takes a full page of your passport.

If you already have a multi-entry visa you don't need singles and can leave as often as you wish.

If one has a multiple entry visa one does not have to get a re entry visa, you simply fill in your visa number on your arrival form. I have been doing this for years.

To the OP,
It seems like you have a multiple entry OA visa.
That visa will expire one year from its issuance.
On arrival, you'll get a one year permitted to stay stamp.
Within the validity of the visa you'll always get another year's permitted to stay whenever you re-enter the country. There is no need for a re-entry permit.
However, if you leave the country after the visa expires but within your permitted to stay date you will need a re-entry permit and that will allow you back here up to that particular permitted to stay date.
Hope you understand. If not just ask.

Yes I do have a multiple entry OA visa and thank you to everyone for the advice which really clarifies the situation.

To a newcomer it all seems very confusing of what's required and I certainly don't want to invalidate my visa after the hassle of getting it in the first place!!

I am a keen golfer and hope to catch up with those that play golf sometime in the near future
