Does Anybody Know Where I Can Get My Watch Repaired?

Post by Telstar »

Talking about malls, does anybody know a shop where they can repair watches? The previous time that I want there, I had taken along one of my tag heuer watches and it had broken down during a journey on the road. As I had bought it online here http://www.chrono24.com/en/tagheuer/index.htm, so there wasn't a possibility that I could send it back to any shop. So I spend some time looking for a decent shop but couldn't find one and the watch stayed in the suitcase. So, does anybody know?

My wife's friend has a shop selling watches, locks, etc. She thinks he also mends watches. It's on Chomsin Road, about half way between the traffic light and the railway crossing. On the north side of the road. The shop is called something like Naa ti tong.

I've never been in it but there is one called the watch doctor between the crazy roundabout and the night market street on the railway line road. Let us know if you are successful anywhere as I have one to mend also. Everytime I've been passed I've not had my watch with me!!

I've bought and sold on Chrono24 before, it's a great site. I don't think Tag would have a problem with you sending your watch to them for repair as you simply pay for what they need to do; having agreed it with them first.

If it's something relatively simple, such as a stuck pusher or a hand falling off the pinion I would probably take it to someone recommended here. You need to consider that they are unlikely to have much experience of repairing intricate mechanical movements, however, and certainly not a Tag Calibre, plus you shouldn't rely on any water resistance as new gaskets from Tag are pressure tested and would only be available at authorised outlets. In this case, the old one would be replaced but are almost always damaged on removal if they've been in place for some time.

If I'd spent the best part of 4 grand on a decent watch, I'd probably want to send it to an authorised repairer and pay for a routine service as opposed to running the risk of damaging it further. I have the ultimate repsect for what I see people doing in Thailand to mend and make do, but I'd draw the line at a precision piece of engineering. Do a search on the Tag site for authorised repair centres, I'm sure there'd be one in Bangkok.

There is an official Tag Heuer repair shop in Paragon in BKK. I suggest it is best to send it there. I believe that opening of the case requires a seal to be replaced, and for a water test to be done.

The costs are very reasonable

Sorry, I cannot find the bill, so cannot give you any contact details, but a search on the internet might reveal details.
