We've been reading the Forum for awhile - thanks very much, it has been quite handy. We're two Canadians soon to be retired to Hua Hin. We spent a month there 6 months ago, loved it, went mad, bought a furnished condo & will return end of Sept. Can't waste time at our age. We're able to spend 6 months a year outside of Canada & still retain our medical. We have the OA visa for starters & opened a bank acc. when we were in Hua Hin. Everything was easy & went swimmingly, touch wood, people couldn't have been nicer. Our British real estate agent, lawyer & various assists have been terrific. Am happy to provide their refs. although not sure how to do it via this forum & must follow the rules.
Thanks again & no doubt I shall appear again with silly questions.
Hi Joyce, and welcome to the forum. Don't be afraid to air your views and/or ask any questions. Glad to hear everything went well for you and that you got around to meeting some good people at the same time.
You often here negative stories regarding the expats here, but so far, all the ones I've met have turned out to be very decent people, and very friendly. Hope you enjoy your future stays in the country.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact
Likewise we are planning to retire to Hua Hin shortly and have found the forum to be an excellent source of information with everyone only too willing to help. We are really looking forward to being a part of the local community. cheers
Hi
We are in the same position as yourselves but we are not buying property as we wish to travel extensively. We arrive in Hua Hin mid August and wonder if anyone can direct us to a guest house hotel and then to source a long term rental condo. We will be budgeted to 25,000 / month max but will consider slightly more if it is worth it.
We are experienced travellers and will be wandering around to see what is available and popping into condo locations to enquire but a heads up is always worth it.
We have been living and working in Turks & Caicos Islands in the Bahamas archipeligo for 6 years and are now retiring from here first to Thailand. We are Scots with a wanderlust.
Thanks for any guidance and I agree that the frum is super useful
