S'mor Spa - Indian Food

Post by JW »

Been to S'mor Spa twice in the last week and have to tell anyone looking for great Indian food to get yourselves there. Last night went with a friend and we ate far too much..... Kati Rolls (chicken tika wrap), 3 styles of chicken kebabs along with a beautiful fish kebab, Chicken Tikka masala, Garlic naans, Pilau rice (which was moist and delicious). No fatty bits on anything just great food.
S'mor is on the beach in Takieb so its a lovely place to sit and eat. Cost - under 800 baht with a few beers and soft drinks. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Great place for us Indian lovers :thumb:

Scchhh - Johnny what have you done , I thought it was mine and HHF's little secret

I was going to post about this last week or so as I heard about it from our old informative friend HHF, but I'm not an expert on Indian food even though I enjoyed it and the price is very reasonable for the location. I went a couple of weeks ago and we were the only customers. Taking a BKK visitor for lunch tomorrow also.

Note the Indian chef does not work on Sundays.

They have main courses, Thai and Indian for around 120 Baht and 35 Baht for a garlic nan. Beer is a little pricey as it is a resort, I think 80/120 for Singha.

As an aside, about a month ago there was an early footy K.O. so I went to town to watch the game and popped into the Indian on Dechanuchit for a takeaway. I ordered butter chicken which was 250 Baht and a garlic nan was 60 Baht I think plus rice. Total meal for one was around 350 Baht. :banghead:

The same meal in SMOR was less than 200 and in S & S last week around 150 Baht.

Been meaning to pay this place a visit for quite some time, as I believe the cook is the chap that had the excellent Thank You restaurant. Going on Sunday, so now even happier at the prospect!

The youngish Indian chef has only been in HH about 3 months and is returning to India in a week or so to look for work elsewhere. If I understood his English correctly there is a replacement coming.

DM... that was funny, sorry!
I think one of the chefs is going back due to health condition not for work, anyway lets hope that the food remains great!

Drive into Khao Takieb and go past the 2nd 7-11, keep driving and you will see a white sign on teh left handside S'Mor Spa, turn left and park. Then walk through the entrance and onto the beach. Remember Kati Rolls! Enjoy :thumb:

Had lunch there today and noticed the menu had Thank You Restaurant on the front so I guess they have relocated here.

Foodie : Following JW's instructions look out for a surfboard stood up outside with their name on, all painted in bright colours.

Well, we went there for lunch on Saturday in the end. At first I thought we'd be disappointed as we were told that they only do Indian food in the evening, however we were in luck because the chef must have been around and in a good mood as he was wiling to cook for us. Glad he did, it was excellent all round.

Same menu as Thank You restaurant, which I always liked, but the food was even better, especially the dall and the paratha. Four of us had a substantial lunch including several nans and parathas and a few large Changs and lumbered out just 1000 baht poorer.

Beautiful location too, right on the beach, nice cool breeze.

Highly recommended, but call first if you want Indian food at lunchtime.

EDIT: There's a wide range of Thai and European dishes as well.

DM - I went Wednesday and Thursday lunch this week & the Indian chef was there both days.

He was telling me they do a BBQ on Saturday evening, 400 Baht, not sure what that included but sure to be good value. Next time there is no early KO at footy I will try it and post the details unless anyone else goes on a Saturday before then - JW ? :thumb:

Went there last night with JW..The buffet is excellent value at 350baht. Plus we had an impromptu informal quiz (which we won!!!). Turnout was good as well. All in all it was a great night. If I remember rightly Samir? the owner said the next buffet night is in a fortnight.

Really pleased that everyone is getting great food, consistency is so important, the owner is called Sam and he usually not far away, the 350 baht buffet is great value.

No doubt be visiting again some time this week!

I've got to give that a go some time.
I think Sam is from Bangalore so I'm certain there'll be some good old southern curries on the menu.

Went with a friend on Friday, we had a wonderful meal at a good price. My friend wanted chicken korma which was not on the menu and the chef said he would make it. Sorry to say it was not great but all the other dishes were very good. The samosa's are great 3 for 50baht. I loved the location on the beach, and that there is also Thai food for the wife and choices for my son. It is almost across the street from where Take 5 was. Will be a regular, just hope he stays put for awhile :D
