I want to send some DVD's (as I can't get VCD's), in English, to Thailand. But the machine the G/F has (not in HH) is a video CD. Does anyone know if they will still play?
I have a very basic DVD player myself and it says that I can play video-CD's on it but I might lose any pre-recorded material (whatever that is). It also plays various other things, but only DVD's from `region 2'.
If you've a computer, you can convert DVD's into CVD's.
Programms like "DVD Shrink", "DVD Decrypter", "YASA vob to MPEG converter"...etc. are very helpful and easy to use.
You can also "change" the so-called "region" for DVD's.
To find and download these programs try Google or Yahoo-search.
Hogus is essentially correct although by CVD I assume what is meant is VCD unless in some parts of the world the acronym difers.
DVD is a superset of VCD. VCD is the same media technology as CD. DVD has ten times the "resolution" of CD and has the ability to be etched on both sides of the plate.
What I question is, why would anybody want to convert downwards when region free DVD players (big names) are now available for under fifty bucks.
