New Koncept store before the tunnel

Post by Foodie »

I had seen the New Koncept furniture store but had not stopped in prior to yesterday. I needed a new mattress so I checked it out. They have a large selection and I got a Swedish miricale foam mattress at very reasonable price. It got delivered today right at the time they told me. Great service. The place is huge 2 floors filled with all prices and all levels of quality furniture. A very nice addition to Hua hin.

It's good to hear that you were satisfied with it Foodie, but in my own experience the Thai furniture outlets (this one included) appear to sell quite inferior products at very high prices. A lot of the furniture is made from chipboard and the fittings are poor quality. Our apartment has a range of this type of thing from Koncept, and whenever we momentarily put a wet drinking glass down, the surface wrinkles and cannot be repaired. I later learned that the surfaces were made from a paper-based material. The product is absolute rubbish.

I suppose with your mattress, it's fine and just what you were looking for, but in terms of items of furniture, I've often been shocked at what is sold to the non-discerning Thais who unfortunately don't have much in the way of competition, from which to judge.

Although it certainly isn't English Oak, I've been fairly happy with the rubberwood products available locally.

Do they have any wooden furniture in this new store, Foodie?
