Post by Phil D »

We will be in Hua Hin for all of August. Am interested in taking a Thai cooking class. Can anyone please advise if there is one available.

Yes. There is one I know of. Tried it, very good. They'll pick you up in the morning at your hotel, take you to the market to buy the food after which you will be taken back to a Thai house where you will cook and eat a variety of Thai dishes (including curries, soups, deserts and beetles (if you have the nerve)). Takes in total about 5 hours. It is advertised in local guides and there is a shop where you can book any evening on the left hand side of the road from the night market to the sea. You can't miss it, there is a big sign outside "Hua Hin Cooking School"

It sounds interesting. Do you have any idea about the cost.

That sounds like fun - did something like this in Phuket and had a ball! hopefully I'll find the time to do that again when I come to Hua Hin!

She was charging 1000 Baht about 7 years ago when I did her cooking course, so if it is now 1500 then I guess that is down to inflation - as you get to eat/take home what you cook and food has increased significantly, then it doesn't seem too bad and definitely less than the hotels charge.

Are there other choices of schools in the area. I wanted to take a course next week.
