October can be the deadest and the wettest month anywhere in Thailand. Don't think you're going to find many events as most establishments/government bodies will be gearing up for the start of high season in November. You should get some good discounts on rooms and other things in October though. Just enjoy the peace and quiet, although mid-year break for the Thai schools is in October so there could be more families there on short holidays.

One good point, I think the jellyfish are gone by October, right or wrong Hua Hin expats? Pete

^ That's flooding. Three posts one minute apart. They could have all been one post so I guess you are trying to get into night crawlers...

I'll stand by what I said in the above post last September concerning the entire country, but it can be nice also. Hua Hin is one of the driest places in Thailand so you have that going for you. If it does rain it's usually not days and days, but a downpour now and then with blue sky and sun afterward, and delightfully cool, usually. Experiencing some monsoon is part of the charm of the country so I wouldn't let it put you off. Everything is green and lush with birds, bugs, lizards and frogs serenading day and night.

Prices should be cheaper for accommodation and perhaps some specials going on in the restaurants and bars. Few tourists which makes it nice IMO, but there's still girls around and the local expats of course. They're the people you want to chat with anyway if you want to learn about HH and Thailand.

You could say it's the shrewd and savy traveler who takes a chance on October here.

I was part of an organization which held military veteran reunions in Pattaya, four in seven years. All four times out of a 10 day reunion we had rain an average of 3 days, and not all day. Its wetter in Pattaya than in Hua Hin as well. Pete

Thank you prcscct just the answer I need. Still plenty girls and not too busy.
A little rain is ok and to see the real HH is great.

October and November are always my preferred months to visit Thailand. It's often a bit cooler, and the occassional downpour serves to freshen things up. Never too many tourists either.
