We went to a new restaurant last night and I was impressed with the extensive menu, romantic ambiance (with both outside and air conditioned indoor seatng) and especially the prices. They have American, Italian, Mexican, and Thai food and the prices seemed impossible for a pretty classy restaurant like this. I had a rib eye steak (with pepper sauce on the side, jacket potato, and steamed veggies) all for 259 baht. My wife had two of her favorite Thai dishes (both at under 100 baht each) and said they were excellent.
The place is called Terrace 90 (on Soi 90) but can be seen and accessed via a small soi from Soi 94. One of the Thai ladies who owns the place gave us a tour and said that they are going to open the upstairs area in the future with a sports bar, more meal seating, and possibly live music.
She told me they are having a Cinco de Mayo (5th of May Mexican holiday) celebration on Wednesday evening with a buffet at 199 baht. I'm going to give that a try...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Restaurants like this are always good for the first few months but then fizzle out and from then on only attract cheap charlies, better off sticking to the better places like the french restaurant on the pier of buffalo bills were a good steak remains a good steak but if your on a budget like HHF then the terrace sounds a good deal.
Terrace 90 is Cantina California reborn. So they have been around for a while and therefore rooney's cheap shot:
"Restaurants like this are always good for the first few months but then fizzle out and from then on only attract cheap charlies, better off sticking to the better places like the french restaurant on the pier of buffalo bills were a good steak remains a good steak but if your on a budget like HHF then the terrace sounds a good deal." (cheap shot part italicized)
while generally very true, applieth not here.
I ate the Mexican three-way combo and enjoyed it. It was very good, but not on par with Baja Tacos. Then again, most propably nothing in Hua Hin ever will. However, I got good service, very hot food (very well heated plate) and much too strong coffee to round it off. Terrace 90 has Cinco de Mayo buffet coming up (very appropriately) on the May 5th. It'll be 199 baht for Mexican buffet, I expect it'll be well worth the money.
BTW, anyone challenging the Natta menu # 39 has a very hard time besting the Natta beefsteak. Particularly, if one chooses the herb butter sauce and mixes half a shot of Regency into the sauce. Try it, you'll enjoy it.
"There's no plausible or convincing reason, certainly no evidential one, to believe that there is such an entity (= deity) and that all observable phenomena, including the cosmological ones... are explicable without the hypothesis; you don't need the assumption."
How did the steak compare to Natta's? (I always eat the thick one, can't remember what they call it on the menu)
hhadfan, I can't really say as it would be apples and oranges. At Natta's I've had the steak you mean, a fillet mignon and it is very good at their price, but at Terrace 90 I had a rib-eye, while very good, larger, and cheaper than the one at Nattas, not as tasty in my estimation as a good fillet. Terrace 90 also has a several fillet's at reasonable prices (both local and imported beef) so when I give one of those a try, I'll let you know how they compare. What I did like at Terrace 90 was that the pepper sauce was served on the side so that if you decide the steak is good without sauce, it's up to you whether to use it or how much to use. I used a little and put the rest on my baked potato which made a really good potato sauce too.

Do you guys have something like 'Door to Door' as they have in Pattaya? 15-20 restaurants sell their menu items through that service for home delivery. I think they add on 10% plus their delivery charges. A life saver when in a pinch and don't want to go out. Maybe a good business idea for HH. Pete

Pete, I've only seen a service like that in Pattaya and Bangkok. We of course have all the chains here that deliver their own food but no service that I know of that will take a phone order for any restaurant and then pick it up and deliver. Does sound like a good business idea for some enterprising person. I'd use it as I am a couch potato and don't like to go out much.

Here's their web site in case anyone interested in how they do it. Pete
