Child cots

Post by terry+carmen »

Holiday time again, have my children coming to stay for Christmas and I need to beg or borrow two child cots for three weeks.

Can anyone lend or rent me two cots for children?

PM any suggestions please.

There are little mattresses, not the cheap colorful ones that Thais usually use (although those may be ok for children) but real mattress type things that are twin size or a little smaller made like a real mattress but only about 10 cm thick. They are quite comfortable and we use them (on the floor) for overflow in our house when a lot of Thai family or friends come to visit.

We got ours at Winner on the west side of Phetkasem going towards Cha-Am, but I've seen them just inside the main doors from the garage at the bottom of the escalator in the Market Village Mall.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

HHF is absolutely right. I don't think that Thais really do cots and the little one(s) would be better off on the floor. The one thing that is probably more important here for really young kids (especially from the west) is mosquito netting. It also acts as a kind of barrier to stop them wandering around during the night!

We bought two "cots" for lack of a better word a few months ago. I have since laid claim to one as my official nap bed. They have an aluminum frame and bright striped cloth, which I suppose is what you would call a cot. Extremely comfortable and fold up to about three feet and less than six inches thick. My wife bought them for suntanning and hasn't used them once!

We got them at the little furniture store, on the left side of Petchkasem Rd. as you enter the small business district in Cha Am, just before the pedestrian overpass, and a few hundred yards before the traffic light.

I think they cost around three hundred baht each. They would make wonderful beds for either small adults or children.
