6 Nations Rugby - Where to watch it in HH?

Post by Jaime »

Getting back to Hua Hin on 12 March and want to watch Scotland Vs. Wales on the following Sunday night. Should be on at about 9 or 10 pm Thai time. Any suggestions as to the best place to watch it?

If you're a Scottish supporter go to Billy's. Nearby Bernie's is another venue, where you'll be able to watch the match.

Cheers fellas,

I thought 'Billy's' had a bit of a Scottish ring to it. Being surrounded by drunken Scots might not be the best place for a drunken Welshman after Wales cane Scotland! Especially not after writing that! But after so many years of abject failure, shurely nobody will begrudge a bit of Welsh pomposity this season!

As for Bernie's, maybe I've been unlucky but everytime I've been in Hua Hin, it has seemed all closed up, with chairs stacked and tables cleared away. Does it close at certain times of the year? Am I right in saying it is the 'outside' bar at the end of the little group of bars behind that steel train thing behind the Hilton. In the middle of the terrace of bars nearby was what used to be a little karaoke place run by a Thai lady with an English name like Pearl or something similar.

Hopefully it will be open when I am around but any other suggestions are also welcome. If not I'll have to brave Billy's Bar!

I have watched a couple of games in the Celtic bar. However for the England Ireland game they were showing bloody football, can't get away from that dammed game!! :guns:

So I watched it at the Headrock bar which is the first bar on the left down the road between Nat bar and Rainbow bar. Only problem was I was sitting at the bar for 30 mins without a drink and the cashier and one other staff member were sitting opposite me. Still I saw the game :D

At the end of the day there is little live coverage for the 'egg chasers' that will fill a bar on a regular basis unless you have the right satellite system and are an Aussie Bar.

Therefore its pretty obvious that a bar with only one tv system will 'look after' the custom that will come back to the bar week in week out during the season and for cup tourneys and championships etc ... No point in pissing them off by abandoning footy for a few weeks to make another crowd happy for a few hours, a crowd that you won't see after the tourney has finished ...

Thanks Bangkokney,

There is an Aussie bar hidden away on Soi Selakam ( parallel to Bintabaht ) that regularly shows real sports. Try dropping in at Goanna's one weekend.
