Bar Wars or Car Parking Wars
Bar Wars or Car Parking Wars
Hi
Witnessed a sorry spectacle yesterday at the Lime Light Bar.
A foreigner parked his car outside the Lime Light Bar and walked into the "El Murphy's" Bar Restaurant where he ate and ordered a drink.
A woman then started to scream from the Lime Light Bar telling the guy he parked no good. the guy came out and moved it back from the bar steps about 2 feet, she then started screaming that he should park outside El Murphy's.
She then phoned a Thai guy that runs the massage and restaurant opposite, he parked his Pick Up in the middle of the square. Screaming and shouting then followed from the Thai's. The Police came and gave the Thai guy a ticket (there is justice in Thailand).
When this all died down the women and girls that work in Lime Light STATED that if cars or bikes that park outside the bar whose owners did not come into the bar would be scratched.
If you have had your car or bike damaged in this area and wondered why or whom, perhaps this is the answer.
I was eating here in Lime Light at the time, will not again.

Sounds like a faithful dog that barks at the postman. Some of these girls get ideas way above their station.
It is a bit dumb to bring a truck into Selakarm and then try to park but as far as I know it is legal, You can park where you like so long as it does not cause an obstruction. Scratching someones vehicle is illegal.
I you feel like complaining then do it to the boss. Many are totally unaware of what is done on "their" behalf.

My partner always tells me that I can’t park in front of a business when I’m not going there, and when I ask her if that is the law she just tells me that you can’t do it, it seems to be a Thai thing.
Now I’m beginning to understand that what she means is that someone might scratch the truck!
She will let me park in front of the Wat when I’m not going there but you have to pay 20 bt.

I think its rude to park close in front of someones business (ie: no path space) whether its a legal spot or not.
I did it recently down the beach road late at night in front of a shuttered up unit, but never went home in it. Next afternoon I had the following scratches on 4 panels.
Obviously I didn't intend it as thought I might actually go home for once
Som num na, my fault.

Reminds me of what happened to me about 11 years ago in Bangers. I was living in an apartment and the two brothers who owned the building started to fight with each other. It got so bad that they divided the building between themselves. So I decided it was time to move out after 7 years of happy living.
When I took my goods downstairs on the day I moved out, the stuff on the other side told me that since I had lived on the other side of the building, I couldn´t leave my things in front of their side. Well, I moved them (there were not that many of them those days) about 5 meters and everyone was happy. Both of the owners tried to persuade me to stay in their side of the building but I had had enough.

Happens here in Australia in the same way. Shopkeepers get very upset in small shopping centres if you park infont of their own shop and only use other shops even though it is a public parking area.
Also we have a lot of problems with people parking in disabled parking spaces because they are nearer to the main entrance centers. If anyone has a go at the people doing this they just tell you to get f****ed and mind your own business.
So do not think that it only happens in Thailand.

Baa Baa, you have the same chance of violence against you saying that to people here as you do in Thailand.
So do not think that violence will only happen to you over there. You have just as much chance of it happening here, and I do not only mean for parking problems.
There have been some horrendous attacks on drivers by other drivers who for whatever reason think that the other driver has done something wrong to them. some attacks even resulting in deaths.

Even in the little burg I live in near Rayong, the shop keepers near the new Tesco block the parking spaces in front of their shops with chairs, crates, old washing machines etc. When you get there and are coming to their establishment, you honk and they remove the blockade and let you park. This forces the Tesco shoppers to navigate up the elevated parking garage, something that not too many Thai's are good at, given all the black scrape marks on each and every corner of the ramps.

You're right Mr Prcscct, but it is against the law to do this? Think it is. What I'm suggesting is that no-one gives a Sh** about anything apart from themselves. Why can't I park in a place that is "supposed" to be publicly available. Do they own the road aswell, last time I checked, this is not the case.prcscct wrote:Even in the little burg I live in near Rayong, the shop keepers near the new Tesco block the parking spaces in front of their shops with chairs, crates, old washing machines etc. When you get there and are coming to their establishment, you honk and they remove the blockade and let you park.
I know I'm being idealistic here, and I've been here long enough to know you're right. What I'm getting at is the Bull****.
