Would it be cheaper and easier to just box off personal belongings and mail to Thailand I wonder ?

TBH I nearly didn't bother with any of it but couldn't stand the thought of the tears and accusatory looks from the kds

I've gone with Anglo Pacific after Siani's and other recommendations. They came in with a good quote (£850 for about 150 cubic feet) and are picking up on friday.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Get a quote from Britannia as well. Apparently a lot of the others give you a quote but it is sent via them anyway.

i am thinking of sending my 37 inch tv over from england ( a really nice panasonic ) , its only a year old and i would lose so much money on it if it was sold in the uk , is it worth shipping it ( with other things ) or would the cost b more than its worth as its quite heavy ? i paid about £500 for it last year, if anyone has any idea how much it would cost i would b greatfull

Shipping agents use a volumetric weight calculation see :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volumetric_weight

I don't reckon that weight will be the problem but possible import / customs duties may make it not worth doing. Flat screen TV prices have dropped considerably over the last few years and prices in Thailand are now more reasonable.

Have a look at sevenseasworldwide.com for an on-line quote.

I haven't compared their rates to other companies which may well work out cheaper if you have anything more than a few items to move.
For shipping by sea the prices are usually based on volume only, the volumetric weight calculation is applied for aircraft cargo to surcharge light but large volume items.

Yes, a good site to plan with. Certainly, I've been able to use the advice contained on there to convince my wife that she doesn't need to move some of her larger items.
